This was a very special place to stay- I think possibly the best hosted experience I have ever had. It is a traditional ryokan and so I expected the courteous welcome and the room to be laid out with a futon while I ate, as well as a lovely ‘ofuro’ bath. However my expectations were exceeded because the staff gave a truly warm and welcoming, homely service - I really felt as if I were a guest in someone’s home. Everything was explained in detail so that I could appreciate the flowers, the history of the town, best places to visit, the local art gallery (they even have local artwork in the hotel) and of course the ‘Kaiseki Ryori’ (formal many course meal). I was quite sad to leave. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt like a ‘respected guest’ - thank you so much!

The most wonderful front staff I've had the pleasure of meeting in Japan. Everyone was so friendly. They took the initiative to offer me a free map of restaurants and attractions in the area and gave excellent meal recommendations when asked. I wish I had stayed for more than one night. It's a bit of a walk from Uno station but the taxi ride is inexpensive. I believe they even have a shuttle at certain times of the day but I couldn't take advantage of it. The hotel decor was very cool. They also give prompt responses if you message them. I would stay again!
