Four-Star Hotels in Glossop

This was a very, very last minute booking and the hosts went out of their way to help us and accommodate us. Nothing was too much trouble. The house is very well equipped and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It is on the edge of the Peak District national park and has great access to Glossop town. The hosts were very friendly and very responsive to our questions. The house was ideal for our party size of 6 adults.

Breakfast was excellent; interesting that it was at a different location, another lovely pub just down the hill. Dinner at the Bull’s Head was great, chips fantastic (real potatoes, not frozen). Friendly informal surroundings in cosy rooms on the main floor of the pub; bedroom was a good size with a very comfortable king-sized bed with immaculate coverings. The staff were fabulous, everyone so incredibly friendly and welcoming in ways we hadn’t experienced before in the south of the country, which seems much more formal. We loved the location across from the churchyard. It was very peaceful, lots of birdsong. Bit difficult to find at first, but some friendly local folk helped us find our way. Glossop seems like a really lovely community.

My stay was from August 25 - 28, 2023. I was apparently the first person to rent this lovely one-bedroom house since the owner (Mike) renovated it. I must say he did an excellent job as everything inside is brand new, from the flooring to the doors to the electrical outlets, which have built-in USB charge ports - a nice touch! He has a 3-ring binder on site with detailed instructions on how to use everything in the house. If you aren't familiar with UK-style constructions, the door handles work a little differently than I've ever seen (I am from the US) they have latches that you have to manually engage by pulling the handle upwards (effortlessly), which creates a very nice lock on the doors, not that they would ever be necessary as the neighborhood is pristine! He has both satellite and off-the-air television on a flat panel TV in the living room and a smaller flat panel that runs from the standard antenna in the upstairs bedroom. Both have HDMI ports if you're inclined to plug in a laptop or whatever. The Internet clocked in at around 75 Mbps down and I think maybe 25 up. Certainly, enough bandwidth for any need, even if you brought an Xbox. The kitchen is well stocked with all brand new appliances, including an electric oven and convection stove, dishwasher, fridge/ freezer, and a microwave that is I believe 1200 watts. With a variety of pots and pans and an array of utilities, you could prepare any standard meal without concern for needed tools or utensils. The sink does not have a garbage disposal but I'm not sure if that's a common thing out there or not, I never thought to ask. Mike is a great host. Very friendly and helpful. I could not have had a better experience. If and when I go back to Glossop (I didn't have nearly enough time this visit), I will be looking to see if this is available because I can't imagine needing to stay anywhere else. The location is perfect and the neighborhood is quiet.
