This is paradise on Earth! A human-sized hotel with 13 rooms and numerous services. The staff is very helpful, always very friendly and willing to assist. The rooms are functional and decorated with attention to detail. Amazing views of coconut trees, the pool, and the Indian Ocean. The beach is very well equipped, not crowded, right at the hotel's doorstep, with sun loungers, canopy beds, and staff to monitor and assist guests. The place is very calm and relaxing. The hotel is like a secluded island in an area that doesn't have much interest in itself. The highlight: the restaurant serves excellent food, worthy of a starred restaurant, catering to all tastes at reasonable prices. The breakfast is also excellent, nothing like the bland international food of big hotel chains. The chef was attentive to our needs and tried to fulfill every wish we had. What's more, for my husband's birthday, we were offered a cake and a bottle of wine. We really felt pampered in Ahu Bay. Thanks again to all staff for this memorable holiday!

We have not stayed before but We found out that this hotel changed ownership in December 2024. So ignore any previous reviews. It is clearly run by professionals now and they have done extensive refurbishment. It is truly beautiful and spotlessly clean. It had a Superb beach location, lovely swimming pool. Double aspect infinity pool. Attentive staff. Hotel located on a little peninsula with lots of pretty areas to sit. Sunsets superb. Can walk along beaches to other hotels in Ahungalle otherwise you really need a tuk tuk which the staff will always get for you. ( and are cheap) we visited a huge reclining Buddha Temple whilst staying here. A must do ! Internet OK. Fridge in room. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Good supply tea and coffee and 2 waters daily. It was a lovely stay.

We loved everything: the rooms were large and with beautiful design, everything super clean; very confortable bed. At one point we were the only guests (our group) since it is a small resort. The pool is amazing, food was perfect. It s best to preorder, so you don t wait. Try Tomato and Orange soup, my favorite, also shrimps, pasta, lamb.. they have a very good Chef. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The nearby Balapytia beach was so beautiful, we saw a wonderful sunset from the rocks. It was splendid to relax here after visiting the island. It was one if the 2 best hotels we stayed in Sri Lanka. Only 5 km to River Madu boat tour. 30-40 min to Hikkaduwa to see turtles.

After a very stressful few months this was the most perfect hotel to come to and relax. Wonderful location, beautiful pool, excellent but discreet service and fantastic food. Our wonderful butler, Prabhath, took care of our every need and truly enhanced the holiday. We would highly recommend this hotel.

First of all I would like to thank the hotel owner Niroshan and his wife Lakshmi for their hospitality and for making everything for our comfortable stay in Sri Lanka. The hotel itself is located in a picturesque village just above the Madhu River. The rooms have a beautiful view of the river, islands and jungle. There are only six rooms in the hotel, so Niroshan can give enough time and attention to each of the guests. Start your day with the pool and freshly squeezed fruit juice. The breakfast at the hotel is delicious and quite varied. Niroshan is a wonderful cook with years of experience, so be sure to try the dishes prepared by him. Our stay here fell on New Year's Eve, which we decided to celebrate at the hotel, which we never regretted. The hotel team organized for us an unforgettable evening with delicious food, wine, fireworks and national dances. Especially memorable was the excursion to a tea plantation and a tea factory. You should definitely visit it, you will learn a lot of interesting things about the technology of harvesting and production, as well as taste very tasty tea. Niroshan is a very interesting person and will gladly tell you about the specifics of life on the island, local traditions and history. I did not want to leave. But we will definitely come back, because there is still so much to see on the island, so much to try!

Kumu Beach is like being in paradise. Your eyes just won't get enough. The way the hotel is designed, combined with that stunning beach, rocks, and the pool are just incredible The staff is incredibly kind, from extra requests - such as breakfast on the go - to the chef coming to your table with dinner. The other guests were also very respectful and relax. This has been our favorite place in Sri Lanka.

The Property is beautiful and nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. It's quiet and secluded so if you want to unplug it's good for that. The staff were amazing helpful and always available. It's wonderful for a special occasion with your family. We spent my daughters 21st there and staff were amazing at making a special experience. Chef was fantatsic, the menu had a good selection of food, breakfast was especially good. Staff were available with a minibus to take us where ever we needed to go, so that made getting around really easy. Overall very enjoyable.

Top class breakfast, chef highly creative and food presentation is a winner. First Class. All staff from security gate to garden staff and reception made us feel personally welcomed. Lots of smiles and frequently they ask if all is okay. Great job. Rooms perfect and clean and good quality.

Everything, it couldn't have been more perfect. The ocean and beach setting, the fresh stylish interiors, impeccably maintained, pristine clean, the friendly attentive staff, the delicious food (breakfast is wonderful the fruit platter with so many tropical fruits wow) the peace and tranquillity, the plentiful day beds and sun loungers, the pool. Small and intimate yet private. Could not ask for more or better. An idyllic luxury retreat.

Our stay in Ahu Bay was truly amazing. The room's interior perfectly suited our needs, and the private swimming pool was a real highlight for me. The peaceful atmosphere in the area added to the overall experience. However, what truly made our stay memorable was the outstanding staff. Abhishek welcomed us with exceptional hospitality, and Ravindra in the restaurant went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met. We highly recommend Ahu Bay for a fantastic beach vacation.

I celebrated my 30th birthday with my mum here and it was absolutely blissful! The hotel staff went out of their way to make it special with a cake and a bottle of wine, they were superbly professional and so kind - special thanks to the manager Mr.Nilanga for taking care of us and accommodating all our needs. Breathtaking views, amazing access to the sea, and just overall very peaceful. I’m definitely going back with more people :)

My night at Ahu Bay was truly wonderful. The property, gardens and interiors have all been beautifully designed to bring a sense of luxury and calm. The rooms are gorgeous and the view from the infinity pool is heaven. The best part was the service, the staff are warm and welcoming and go above and beyond to showcase Sri Lankan hospitality. I can’t wait to stay again.
