Oni no Sumika is a beautiful resort. The rooms and garden are thoughtfully designed. Staff provided excellent and personal service. Shout out to Manager Yawata who took us on a whole-day tour. Would love to visit again

Perfect hot spring area, very good food

It was one of the best hotel experiences that I have ever had! [hospitality and service] From the moment we parked into hotel, we have been warmly greeted and welcomed. It was smooth from the beginning, check in, welcome drink and orientation. Everything is well organized and considerate. It was really lovely that hotel staff even prepared menu in Chinese for dinner! Kudos to authentic Japanese omotenashi! [facility and room] Our room or villa was renovated from a hundred year old traditional Japanese Kura, where you got to experience the traditional Japanese culture and also enjoy the modern and luxury side as a high end hotel! We had a very secluded hot spring in our backyard, which definitely was the highlight of our stay! Champaign and hot springs!! [food] I know many of the tourists are expecting traditional Japanese cuisine but our Italian fusion dining experience was just superb! It was a high end Italian full course but with Japanese fusion, such as the concept of “Shun” which means to use most seasonal ingredients and all of the vege and meat were harvested locally in nearby area. Hats off to the chef!! I would definitely come back for the food!!

Very clean and spacious room space. Comfortable bedding

Place has a vibe of old castle with amazing nature, views and hot springs. The building itself is grand and old fashioned, golf fields are very cared. Golf club members wake up early in the morning and spend all day long playing golf so I was alone in this castle enjoining environment, playing piano and visiting spa zone.

Everything was perfect as expected. Room is spacious , clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, dinner and breakfast was very delicious, onsen is good, car parking was convenient.

The breakfast is extraordinary, we are talking about a real Japanese breakfast. But dinner... dinner is an event in itself, nine courses, carefully designed down to the last detail. There will be dishes you won't know whether to touch or just look at. The location is exceptional, buildings surrounded by forest with a landscape design that surpasses everything you can see in the photos, I have traveled to Italy, France, etc, and this is the most incredible private garden I have ever seen in my life. In fact the entire building is like a museum. Anyone who might complain about "the bed" or "it looks old" is mistaken, is choosing the wrong place, that person may need a Hilton or another typical chain hotel. This is a building that is considered a heritage site in Japan. And the staff, the staff also exceeds all expectations of friendliness. We travel with two children, including one of 5 years, and it is not normal for so many attention, such as bringing a blanket - without asking for it - in case the child was cold during dinner. Sanyo-so was the best part of one of the best trips of our lives. EDIT. I just found that the Sanyo-so garden was designed by Japanese garden artist Jihei Ogawa, several of his works are registered by the government as an Important Cultural Property. And many of the buildings were designed by architect Togo Murano -recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit, considered equivalent to the highest rank (Grand Cordon) of the Order of the Rising Sun-. So no, this is NOT just any building, it is not a building for those looking for a typical Hilton, it is a masterpiece of Japanese design.

The perfect hotel to switch off and relax. My room had amazing views & I loved dressing in the Yakuta to relax. I had one evening dinner & two breakfasts which were amazing. The staff are super friendly too.

The gentleman in charge of the kitchen was super nice and the food was delicious!
