Five-Star Hotels in Ito

The gentleman in charge of the kitchen was super nice and the food was delicious!

Everything. The room (mine had a semi-outdoor bath), the public bath, the private dining rooms for each guest (s) with heated pit under table (for guests like me who can’t sit cross legged), the Kaiseki dinner & breakfast, the welcome & send off (even if only going out for a day trip), the food but most of all the wonderful patient staff (especially Miho Tar….) whose English was way better than my pitiful Japanese!!,

This is a great place for a Ryokan and Kaiseki Experience. Our stay was wonderful and the staff was so kind and heartfelt. We had a room with a private Onsen. A blessing after walking for sightseeing for two weeks in Japan. You also get all kind of amenities and they offer a shuttle from and to Ito Station. I am sad I have to leave and I hope I'll be able to visit again in the future. 10/10

Oni no Sumika is a beautiful resort. The rooms and garden are thoughtfully designed. Staff provided excellent and personal service. Shout out to Manager Yawata who took us on a whole-day tour. Would love to visit again

I love everything, nice people, good hospitality

The breakfast is extraordinary, we are talking about a real Japanese breakfast. But dinner... dinner is an event in itself, nine courses, carefully designed down to the last detail. There will be dishes you won't know whether to touch or just look at. The location is exceptional, buildings surrounded by forest with a landscape design that surpasses everything you can see in the photos, I have traveled to Italy, France, etc, and this is the most incredible private garden I have ever seen in my life. In fact the entire building is like a museum. Anyone who might complain about "the bed" or "it looks old" is mistaken, is choosing the wrong place, that person may need a Hilton or another typical chain hotel. This is a building that is considered a heritage site in Japan. And the staff, the staff also exceeds all expectations of friendliness. We travel with two children, including one of 5 years, and it is not normal for so many attention, such as bringing a blanket - without asking for it - in case the child was cold during dinner. Sanyo-so was the best part of one of the best trips of our lives. EDIT. I just found that the Sanyo-so garden was designed by Japanese garden artist Jihei Ogawa, several of his works are registered by the government as an Important Cultural Property. And many of the buildings were designed by architect Togo Murano -recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit, considered equivalent to the highest rank (Grand Cordon) of the Order of the Rising Sun-. So no, this is NOT just any building, it is not a building for those looking for a typical Hilton, it is a masterpiece of Japanese design.

- You can walk on your feet around the hotel; shoes are not needed. - There are three onsen at the hotel. - The room size was adequate for three adults. - The hotel atmosphere made you feel at home. - The service was fantastic; exceptional customer service was provided. - The massage was fantastic. Exceptional experience, Japanese Ryokan.

This was an amazing hotel. The staff were incredible and looked after our every need. We stayed half board and the dinners were absolutely delicious. We loved every minute of our stay here.
