Our stay at The Lalit Great Eastern in Kolkata was incredibly comfortable. The high ceilings and spaciousness of our room beautifully reflected the hotel’s Victorian and Edwardian heritage, steeped in history since the 1840s. The staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, and the Hotel’s strong commitment to diversity and inclusion was very visible among the staff that served us. The hotel's central location made it easy to walk to New Market, and booking transportation was a breeze, thanks to their assistance at checkout. Breakfast featured a delightful spread with authentic Bengali flavors, including mishti doi (sweet curd) and luchi aloo (bread with potato). A special highlight was the enchanting performance by Breeti, who played the Dotara and sang folk songs, adding a unique touch to the experience. Overall, the ambiance was lovely, and I would definitely stay here again. A special thank you to the young man who helped me track my train live—your patience and support were greatly appreciated! Sorry I can’t remember your name.

Staff going above and beyond to make the stay pleasant. Great food, amazing pool area, saw some families with kids (not a lot though). Security on the front checking all the bags like in the airport 👍🏻.

Beautiful ambience seeped in culture. Very thoughtful and welcoming staff - took care of our smallest comforts and details. Special shout out to Sunita from the front office who took care of all our requests and showed us around the property and to Kunal the gate guard - who was super helpful with his knowldge about Kolkata and helped us plan our each day with helpful tips and suggestions!! And not to miss - the food was awesome too each day - with super attentive and hospitable waiters!

5 stars. In Kolkata. Five stars. In Kolkata. Let me repeat - five stars at Kolkata. It is five stars. With good bar and alcohol, good food and good facilities nearby. I saw few airline workers from some emirates-based air company checking in - and these guys know where to put their personnel for good rest. Windows also have sun protection film so you don’t accidentaly get yoo much sun when it becomes hot.
