Hotels in Polhena Beach, Matara

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful! The rooms were spotless and equipped with both A/C and a fan, ensuring comfort in every season. Given Sri Lanka’s electricity shortages, it's advisable to switch these off when leaving the room. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, and every member of the staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly, making us feel truly welcomed. The pool may not be large, but it’s perfect for a refreshing dip. There are six sun loungers, three or four of which are covered, providing a great spot to relax even if it rains. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink and a shot, a thoughtful touch to start our stay on a high note. Breakfast offered a choice between Western and Sri Lankan dishes, with the local options changing daily. Each day, we received a complimentary 1-liter bottle of water per person and a coconut, which was thoughtfully brought to us by the pool without even needing to ask. Pool towels were provided, though you’ll need to bring your own beach towels if heading to the shore. On our last evening, the hotel treated us to a complimentary dinner—a gesture that truly showcases their exceptional service! The location is also fantastic. Both Secret Beach (which is becoming a bit touristy) and Mirissa Beach are just a 5-minute walk away. Whale-watching operators are also within a 5-minute stroll, and the main street is about 10 minutes on foot. We were delighted to see plenty of wildlife around the hotel, including peacocks, various birds, a snake, and even monkeys. Overall, our stay was fabulous! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would return for another memorable vacation.

A real 5* star hotel with a perfect location.

Social hostel; they organise activities every day. Great for solo travellers. Nice pool if you just want to chill. Hot showers (you need to wait a bit for the hot water)! Not a crazy party hostel, which l loved. Great card game nights:)

The place is amazing. We had a room with pool and garden view and we wouldn’t change it. Breakfast was tasty with different kind of goods - sweet,savory,fruit etc. The pool is really nice and we stayed there and enjoyed the sun beds and everything. There is a free tuk tuk service from 10am to 7pm and its great,we appreciated it and used it more than once. The staff was really nice and helpful. We really recommend the place.

The owner and staff in BeachMirissa Hotel was extremely kind and helpful. We had many good, inspiring and informative talks with the owners. We learned a lot about Sri Lankas history, political and social situation as week as many personal talks. My wife celebrated her birthday during our stay. Everybody at the hotel was so kind to celebrate her.

Great hostel! The host is very kind and helpful, the welcome drink is just splendid! Was able to leave my backpack and pick it up later after checkout. Breakfast was great and includes a refreshing mango drink.

Clean room, nice garden with peacocks😁

Location is amazing! Staff are super helpful, with a generous breakfast - very yummy. The room sizes are big with King size bed with a comfortable bed. There are 4 pillows which were quite large (not memory foam). The whole hotel common area was cleaned daily, however rooms are not cleaned daily. We stayed for 2 nights

It was absolutely Beautiful. The staff were amazing and so catering. I can not complain about anything! It’s also a short walk to the main part of town also!

I liked my stay in the Homestay very much. The family was extremely nice, especially Netuki, who spoke English very well. They even invited me for dinner one evening. I got a big plate of fresh tuna with rice and jackfruit. It was so delicious. The location was also good, not far from beautiful Mirissa Beach. On the main road there are lots of shops and restaurants.
