Hotels in Fort, Colombo

A very nice hotel in the downtown. Rather quiet street and yet close to many places you would like to visit while in Colombo. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. We were able to leave our luggage after the chack-out while waiting for the flight. Excellent place!

Nice decent size room with a swimming pool right in front of the lake and the view of the Lotus tower. My main highlights were the breakfast and dinner. The wide variety and selection was out of this world and you get to try different cuisines as well. By far, the best restaurant I've been to in a hotel. Breakfast has a variety of European and Asian selections which was a nice touch. Also, it's location in downtown Colombo is great which is just a few minutes drive to the shopping mall and the Lotus Tower.

Besides that the hotel facilities were outstanding, very single staff member was extremely friendly and accommodating. This place made us feel home away from home.

If our first encounter with the owner of this homestay is a promise for how most Sri Lankan People will be, then I think we just arrived in paradise! The room was great, the breakfast delicious and the owners even warmer then the climate. As a travel guide on the side he helped us plan the rest of our trip, booking train tickets and go the extra mile to cater to our needs. Thank you so much!!

Humza and his team went out of their way to accommodate us as we arrived at 4.30 am after an overnight trip from trincomalee. Rooms were spotless and staff very professional. Highly recommended. Location was excellent.

It’s difficult to pinpoint just one thing that made my stay exceptional, which, in my opinion, is a sure sign that the Hilton Colombo has the right balance across the board. Check in was seamless, my room was 1615, I was graciously upgraded, so my humble thanks to reception for this. The room itself was spacious, with a fantastic, huge, and super-comfy bed. The TV had English channels (a definite plus!),the view was fabulous. Plenty of complimentary water, a fresh fruit bowl was delivered shortly after I arrived. The room also had an iron and board, and for the first time ever in my travels, I noticed oxygen face masks provided in case of fire. Bonus points to Hilton for that thoughtful health and safety measure. But what truly made my stay so special was the staff. I have genuinely never stayed at a hotel where the team was this warm, professional, and kind. I have to mention a few people by name because they absolutely deserve it. Dinesh in the lounge, I take my hat off to this man. With over 30 years at Hilton, he embodies the very best of hospitality. He couldn’t do enough for me. During one of our chats, I remembered it was my birthday (which I had genuinely forgotten myself due to travel and timezones!). Unbeknownst to me, Dinesh contacted the Duty Manager, Mr. Dinindra, and the Guest Relations Manager, Ms. Zainab. Within ten minutes, both managers, along with Dinesh and the lovely Kiara, appeared at my table singing “Happy Birthday” and presenting me with an incredible cake. It was such a touching moment. I often see guests treat hotel staff poorly, as if they’re beneath them. My advice, engage with the staff genuinely, without attitude or pretence. When you connect on a human level, the service you receive will exceed every expectation. My experience here is proof of that. Who really cares what the price of a coffee of beer costs in the hotel, honestly it doesnt matter. You simply cant put a price on this level of warmth, kindness and professionalism.

This place is run by two lovely local ladies who care about their guests 24/7 although just one of them speaks English. After the booking, you get a mail on what to expect and not to expect from the hostel which I found very helpful. The guesthouse is basic, but it has everything you need. The bunk bed was comfortable, clean sheets and towel and the breakfast is simple but tasty. There are lockers for your valuables so bring a small lock, and there is laundry service available. The guesthouse has a little bit of a bee hive feeling because travellers come and go all the time, so don't expect the most calm place in the city but you can for sure make some friends or find travel companions 😉 Also, point the tuk tuk driver in direction secretariat railway station, for sure they will know. The hostel is just on the opposite side of this railway station, you enter the building and walk up to the second floor. It is very close to the main bus and train hubs and to port city. The two ladies are hearth warming, helpful and friendly, I could even left some luggage there that I will pick up at the end of my trip. A Tipp for everyone who likes to stay central and want to support an entirely ladies run business!
