Our stay in Shimaya was lovely. Authentic Ryokan experience with all the comfort. The onsens in the hotel are amazing. The owner is very kind and drove us to the monkey park. He also gave us the best tips for our walk back through the Onsen town. The breakfast is simple but varied, make sure to taste the local apples and grapes!

Really nice and friendly staff. Nice and clean rooms. Generous breakfasts and dinners with daily changing menues - the wagyu meat was especially good! Private spa with finnish sauna, steam bath, onsen water, cold bath, outside area and even a massage seat and included drinks was bookable for a small fee. Free coffee and tea available in the lounge (tea also in the room). Convenient shuttle service to the train station.

We had a really lovely and relaxing time. The hosts were welcoming and helpful, even going so far as to drive us to the monkey park. The meals were exceptional! We are vegetarian and the hosts prepared beautiful meals for our requirements.

Amazing property with even more amazing staff. We stayed for two night during our honeymoon and couldn’t be happier with the experience. It was an authentic yet luxurious Ryokan. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotless and it even had its own onsen. The food was exceptional and the staff was very well trained and extremely friendly. Highly recommended this hotel and would love to go back on day.

Very nice place, onsen was available through the night, room was quite spacius, chef took into considerations my allergies and the free shuttle bus took us not only to the snow monkey park but also to the station and at earlier hour so we didn't have to rush for the train.
