Hotels in Kinosaki Onsen, Toyooka

Staying at Morizuya was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. This cozy, family-run ryokan radiates warmth and hospitality. Manager Hachisuka and his family do everything they can to make you feel at home, and our stay truly exceeded expectations. The ryokan is charming and traditional. We stayed in a spacious, comfortable tatami room with beautiful décor and a view of a peaceful garden. The room included a private toilet and sink, while bathing is done in their private onsen (yes, private — no need to bathe with others if that makes you uncomfortable). Morizuya provides yukata for men and women, sandals, bags, towels, and an onsen pass for the town’s seven public baths. Women can also choose a kimono for going out around town and shopping, while men can (and should!) relax in their yukata for this same purpose. I especially want to highlight how Manager Hachisuka truly went above and beyond. He’s not only an excellent photographer — taking beautiful photos of my fiancée and me among the cherry blossoms and guiding us to great photo spots — but also incredibly kind and attentive. He personally helped us with our schedule and drove us to the station early in the morning to ensure we caught our train on time. That level of care is something we’ll never forget. If you’re unsure where to stay, I strongly recommend Morizuya. We left with beautiful and unforgettable memories of this warm and authentic experience in Kinosaki. A few quick tips about the bath: There are two onsen inside the inn. From 7 AM to 3 PM, they’re public (men/women separated). From 3 PM to 11 PM they become private — no reservation needed. If the door’s unlocked, it’s available. Go in, lock the door behind you and enjoy. You’re welcome to bathe with your family or partner. Be sure to shower and clean yourself before entering the bath. Walking around town in your yukata(or kimono) is part of the charm, so don’t be shy — it’s all part of the experience.

The room was amazing, typical japanese room with tatami, futon, all that. We had tea, water, beers available in the room. The bathroom had aminities available and was super nice. Overall it was super comfortable. The onsen inside the hotel was the best one out of all I saw in Kinosaki. Great experience! They gave us yukatas and towels, even footwear. You had free access to all onsens in town with a QR they provided you. Tattoos are not a problem too. We also had a kaiseki meal, which was an experience in itself. Some of the best food I had in Japan, and the service was amazing, we were explained what everything was and enjoyed it a lot. Our host was amazing. I am hoping to come back at some point in the future. The personel was amazing, super friendly and kind. It was a pleasure to be a guest! Definitely a highlight in my trip :)

Excellent location, fabulous food and outstanding service by all staff. As a family of five we really enjoyed the experience and hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble and the small touches like tea on arrival and yakuta being provided was great.

The hospitality was fantastic, and the private onsens were very tidy. It was the ideal first time experience onsen in Japan. Excellent staff!

The Overall Service was excellent and reality of rooms was even better then pictures. I loved the fact that there is an art Gallery in the place.

This place was out best stay in Japan, the staff is so nice, it is clean and comfy. The dinner is a bit pricy but with the experience. The breakfast was awesome. The toiled in the room is very convenient. The private baths are super nice and each guest gets 40min in there.

It was a beautiful very relaxing stay with exquisitely presented breakfast with a view and the bath on the enclosed balcony was just wonderful. We loved watching the birds and heron on the river outside and the steamy clouds on the mountains and hills opposite. So nice to be away from the busy town but having the facility to see the town sights, the ropeway, the coastal beach, the willow lined canal by using the free shuttle. The lovely owners/staff waved us off down the road as we left on the shuttle.

Everything was perfect! Most of the staff speaks English and is very helpful and kind. The surrounding is beautiful and feels like a movie. The private spa is amazing and we had a great stay. Can't wait to be back to Japan soon :)
