A beautiful hotel that offers rooms with a private onsen. I only stayed one night but wished I could stay longer.

Incredible experience. The dinner was unlike any I have had before and the service that came with it was exceptional. The private bath in the room was beautiful and the two public baths were also very nice.

Serene, authentic, and classy, this place has it all. It is criminally good value for the money. The keiseki dinner and breakfast were out of this world, probably the best meals I’ve ever had in my two trips to Japan (I’m fussy). A particular shout out to a staff member called Bhesh, a lovely Nepalese man who was extremely kind and helpful, I hope the hotel is rewarding him well for his excellent work.

Amazing bang for buck experience. The remote location is perfect to enjoy a quiet stay in the mountains. Our hosts were absolutely amazing, kind, speaking well English and of precious help. Our room was spacious and cosy, the beds were super confortable. The Onsen was amazing also.
If you want to enjoy the complete ryokan experience, be sure to reserve the traditional meal before check-in as it's made on demand the same day with locals products (about 7000¥-8000¥ per person). It really worth it ! A complete Breakfast is included which is really a big + !

This ryokan stands out for its excellent service. All the staff were cheerful, polite, and genuinely welcoming. Both dinner and breakfast were thoughtfully prepared, with a wide variety of dishes and excellent taste. You really shouldn’t eat too much beforehand, as the dinner here is plentiful and delicious. The location is great for those planning to visit Kamikochi — it’s just a short walk from the bus station to the ryokan. It’s a perfect place to relax and recover after exploring Kamikochi. Thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of me and my family.

Staying at Katsuragi no Sato was one of my favorite experiences from our 2 week stay in Japan. The traditional breakfast and dinner was amazing, better than a lot of Michelin restaurants. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location is really convenient, only a 2 minute walk from the bus station.
The private baths were always open and one of the best parts of our stay. Would highly recommend!
