Beautiful location, great to unwind and relax for few days. Delicious food, after dinner we even get presented with late night snack and cold drink. Staff fully professional and extremely nice. Room is great if you want to feel like in traditional ryokan, especaily private onsen and kotatsu were awasome. We recommend to stay at least for 2 days in order to really feel the place. It was hands down best place we visited during our 3 week in Japan.

This is a hidden gem! I am traveling in a group of 8. We only managed to book for 1 night since they are fully booked. Kaiseki Dinner and breakfast were sumptuous! Staff were really attentive and friendly. We were warmly welcomed with a tea ceremony. They can converse with us in English so communication was really easy. The Onsen! So gooddd.. We liked the outdoor Onsen by the river in particular. Of course, there were also private and public onsen. Plenty of free parking spaces available.

I can only call it perfect.
Comfy traditional style ryokan, not a large hotel.
Great onsen (2 public baths, 2 private ones without need to reserve) with rotenburo and views on nearby mountains.
Great rooms with a private fireplace, big windows and view on a garden.
Very friendly and polite staff, always providing you with a top-notch service. You'll hardly ever find anything better.
Very generous and tasty dinner and breakfast: Hida beef, fish from a local river, some other Hida region specialties.
The location in a beautiful mountain region, very close to a bus stop (Takayama - Shin-Hotaka).
Would definitely want to come back again.
Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views.

This is the best hotel we have stayed at!! We loved everything about it.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. They helped us with our bags and showed us to our room. The restaurant staff were also fantastic.
Our room was beautiful and peaceful. The private bath was like nothing I have seen before. So cool! Overlooking the quiet forest. The beds were comfortable, cozy and the sliding doors hardly let any light in.
The womens public outdoor bath is exactly like the pictures, overlooking trees with an amazing red autumn colour tree at the front. It was just so beautiful. There is also a sauna and cold plunge in the women's bath as well as ice cold water to drink after the hot bath. I even had the public bath to myself on the second day which was so cool!
The hotel provides great amenities in the lobby and the room. Water, local sweets and shampoo/ soap in the room as well as additional toiletries as you check in. At night there are local snacks, ice water and sake in the lobby. In the lounge they had beer, wine and local apple juice at night. Tea and coffee available in the daytime. There was also ice lollies and milk for after the public bath.
The outdoor private baths which are on a first come first served basis were also beautiful. We were able to use them often on our stay which I was glad about as I initially worried they would be too busy. They open til late too.
The outdoor deck has a fire pit at night overlooking the trees it was so peaceful.
We had the hida beef at dinner which we cooked ourselves on the grill, a great experience. It may be better to book this hotel direct as we didn't realise we hadn't booked breakfast and dinner. Luckily they had space for us when we checked in.
There is a free shuttle from the bus station although it is a short walk if you don't have heavy bags. We did so called them via pay phone upon arrival and they were there within 5mins.

Loved everything. The location is beautiful, far away and a bit tricky to get there but beautiful.
The owners are lovely, very kind and respectful. They even picked us up from the bus station because we didn't know there were not buses after 17hs. It was raining a lot and they picked us up and drove us to the pension. We are very grateful for that.
The food is amazing! I loved every breakfast and dinner. The love and passion they put on the preparation is wonderful. For me it was the best traditional food I tried in Japan.
The onsen where as expected, I enjoyed them a lot. The rooms were very big and comfortable, with enough space for luggage.
The owners don't speak English but communicate through a tablet so it was very easy to ask things.
