Kaneyoshi Ryokan was the ideal base for exploring Osaka. The location is unbeatable—right in the center, with a stunning view of the river in a quieter part of Dotonbori. It almost felt too good to be true! One of my favorite things about this ryokan was its retro, Showa-era charm. If you love that aesthetic, you’ll adore this place. Everything was spotlessly clean, and we slept wonderfully on the futons in an incredibly spacious room—especially by Japanese standards. The onsen was another highlight. Around 5 PM, it was completely empty, making it the perfect place to relax after a long day of walking. Lastly, the staff was fantastic—always helpful and ready to answer any questions. The man at the front desk even gave us great tips for both Osaka and Kobe! If you’re looking for a well-located, nostalgic, and comfortable stay in Osaka, this ryokan is a great choice.

So far, Mercure is the best hotel we have ever stayed in Japan. They have perfect customer service thanks to their brand name. Since the 1st day I booked the hotel on Booking.com, their customer service already followed up to make sure my request is fulfilled (I requested extra bed for the children). They also supported me to arrange the shipment of our luggage back to Tokyo and helped us to fill out all the form and connected to our next hotel. Room is spacious, enough for the kids to play inside room. The bathroom is also amazing with bath tub and both hand held and rain shower heads and they are the only hotel provide the body lotion among 3 other hotels we stayed during our 8 days trip in Japan. Their breakfast is super delicious with variety of choices. The only small complaint if I ever had will be the hotel is a bit dark, but I guess it is their unique style :). So 10/10 and for sure I will be back one day.

tatami room for 4 adult was spacious, after laying out the 4 tatami beds, there is still space for a low table and seating area for eating and drinking tea. There is another separate sitting room with a mini table and 2 chairs, a washing basin area, and a bathroom/toilet with bathtub and sink. So it was very comfortable for 4 adults with luggage. There is an on-site shared hot bath where you can relax and wash up after a long day of sightseeing, else washing up in the room is also fine if you are shy. The ryokan is right opposite the entrance to Dotonburi, with lots of shops and eateries, so we ended up going there for a while every day on the way out or way back. The subway station is an easy 5min walk once you know the way, we were advised to use exit 6 which is nearest, but we realised exit 5 across the big junction seems easier as to get to exit 6 within the station we had to climb down and up levels a couple of times, with luggage it was a bit daunting.

Karaksa Namba Hotel was a huge and unexpected surprise. The room was really big, we had enough space to leave our luggage open all the time. Room was provided with a table and 2 chaired, fridge, tv, hangers and a huge bed. Bathroom was separated in a big shower and a small toilet, both provided with washbasin. The entire hotel was spotless. Baggage storage available both when checking in and out for free. In the hall they were providing their guests with anything they may need: cream, lotions, showers caps, razors, toothbrushes and so on. The breakfast area was available to all guests during the day to enjoy food that you could bring from outside and the most amazing part was that they were offering all sort of drinks for free: they have water station, cold drinks (fanta, coke...), hot drinks (coffee, tea...) open 24 h for everyone. They even have a snack station open after breakfast and until evening for everyone to enjoy with cookies, candies, crackers. The locations is also fantastic because is in a quiete area but really close to Dotombori (5 mins walk-in), to Namba Station and to metro station so you can easily visits the city using public transport only.
