The location was amazing. Imagine my surprise we I found out I was directly across from the Kennan-Ji temple. It is obvious if you look at the maps app but I did not. All temples and the Gion district are a very short walk away.

I stayed at this wonderful ryokan during my trip to Kyoto, and I’m still deeply impressed! This is a truly authentic Edo-period style ryokan, with a serene and cozy atmosphere that beautifully preserves Japanese tradition. Everything—from the interiors to the hot baths—radiates a deep respect for cultural heritage.
I want to especially thank the staff. I accidentally left a valuable piece of jewelry in the bath and had nearly accepted that it was lost. But the staff not only found it—they contacted me and kindly mailed it to my hotel in Tokyo. I was genuinely touched by their honesty, care, and attention.
This place became more than just accommodation—it became a special memory of my journey in Japan. I will definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly Japanese experience and heartfelt hospitality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

EVERYTHING, the lobby, the restaurant which served 10/10 breakfast and kept that standard with their lunch and dinner offerings. The bakery on the lobby is also a lovely feature. The coffee corner also served some of the most aromatic coffee I've ever had. The Japanese really take pride in everything they do. There's also a phenomenal Rooftop bar to sit have some small plates and a cocktail. We will be back 100000%

Very nice rooms with everything you need - place to sit and drink some tea, space for clothes, nice bathroom. Bed and pillows are 10/10 comfortable and provided pajamas are an extra bonus.
In the B1 floor there is an onsen which you can use as a guest which is just great! Additionally, there is a guest lounge with a lot of complimentary snacks and drinks which you can enjoy. There is also a laundry room.

Great location, right next to Gion, shopping and a few bus stops away from the station. The design was both cool and functional. Excellent breakfast and a range of other dining facilities, as well as a food market. Very helpful staff - went out of their way to get us tickets to the Miyaki Odori.
Overall highly recommended.

The staff were exceptional, so helpful and gave lots of tips for things to do. We especially liked the warm welcome every evening we arrived back to the ryokan . The interior feels really authentic Japanese and it was fantastic to experience a traditional Japanese room to sleep. The ryokan was so close to most of the major sites and metro/train stations. We cannot recommend this ryokan enough. A rating of 10 is not high enough!
