The breakfast was great with eggs made to order and mimosas. The staff was wonderful, professional, and courteous. They made sure everything combined for a wonderful stay. It was the third time we have taken family to Aquatio.

Our stay at Le Dimore Dell’Idris was truly magical, even if it was just for one night. The location was perfect for exploring the enchanting Sasso and immersing ourselves in its unique atmosphere. The accommodations were impeccable, with everything looking neat and fresh. In addition, the host was extremely helpful in making restaurant reservations for us.
If you're planning to arrive by car, we highly recommend following the host's recommendations and not entering the Sasso zone. Instead, park outside Sasso on the street, it is not far from the hotel, or in the private parking lot further away (which the host can organize a transfer for). Unfortunately, we did not heed the host's advice and now are waiting for a fine to come. Don't make the same mistake we did!

We were excited to stay in a cave/hotel during our trip to Matera and l'Hotel di Pietra did not disappoint! We had a beautiful, large room with jacuzzi and sauna that was breathtaking. The staff was very helpful and the communal breakfast area in the main lobby area was very good as well! The hotel was a few minute walk from a main piazza and the center of town. From the entrance to the property we had a great view of the Duomo and the Sassi. Matera was magical and staying at Pietra complemented our Matera experience.

From the moment we stepped into the "Sassi" suite at Palazzo Degli Abati, it was clear that this was going to be an unforgettable experience. The suite itself exudes a romantic charm that is perfect for couples, with its spacious layout carved directly into the ancient rocks of Matera. The ambiance is beautifully complemented by a soothing bathroom, featuring a giant walk-in shower and a luxurious bath that beckons for relaxing moments together.
Waking up and stepping out of the room, we were greeted by a breathtaking view that can only be described as the very best of Matera. The panoramic vistas from our suite-terrace were uniquely spectacular, making every moment feel like a postcard come to life.
The terrace of the suite provided the perfect sanctuary for both morning delights and evening aperitifs. Enjoying breakfast while soaking in the serene views was an absolute joy, and sipping drinks in the evening amidst the ancient city’s glow was equally magical.
A special note must be made about the wonderful staff at Palazzo Degli Abati. Cristina and her colleagues were exceptionally accommodating and attentive to all our needs. Their dedication shone brightly when we expressed a desire to have some photos taken to remember our trip. They went above and beyond to arrange an excellent photographer, Simone, who captured our moments beautifully.
In conclusion, our stay at Palazzo Degli Abati was nothing short of spectacular. The suite, the views, the service, and the overall ambiance were all perfect. This is a must-visit place that offers a piece of heaven in Matera, ideal for those looking to indulge in a slice of romance and tranquility.

The greeting was extremely warmful; prior to that, the staff had arranged the parking and shuttle very efficiently (you cannot park in the Sassi in Matera). In the heart of an amazing town, the hotel is just fabulous (the "caves" have been turned into wonderful sleeping alcoves and rooms), and the staff is always there to help --with a smile! Don't miss it.
