My friend was sick and we had an overnight bus to catch. The one room wasn't booked, so they let her sleep in the room till we had to catch our bus, at no extra charge. We really appreciated this.
Location is great, with a view of a historical church from the window. Just be aware that the entrance isn't marked properly and it can be a bit confusing to find - although nothing that a phonecall can't resolve.

This is an exquisite hotel. Set in a former private home from 1856 converted annd later converted into a hotel in 1999. There was a beautiful sitting room, that everyone can enjoy. Staying at this place, really gives one the opportunity to experience luxury from another era.
My room was simply delightful. The room was well appointed, and had all the necessities to make one very comfortable . An added bonus is that the hotel is located one block from the main square so it is close to all the action, but not impacted by all the noise. It is also three blocks from an amazing market.
The staff was top-notch. Completely professional, but very friendly and helpful.
The restaurant at the hotel is fantastic! I had eaten at many of different locations in the town and found this to be the best by far. I would highly recommend eating at the restaurant at this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

What an amazing place! The saddest part of our stay was leaving and only having the opportunity to stay for a single night, if time had allowed, we would have stayed a week!
The location is perfect for the old historic centre, the cathedral is an easy walk, so much of the historic centre is walkable from here.
The staff were so incredible!!! So kind and helpful, with great English and knowledge to share. Nothing was too much trouble, from extra coffee, so booking taxis and restaurants.
The breakfast was one of the best meals we've eaten in Ecuador (and we have eaten very well in this country! - but this was a REALLY great way to start our day!) The Tigrillo was a really fabulous Ecuadorian breakfast cooked and presented beautifully.
This is such a beautiful property, very well maintained and full of gorgeous murals on the walls, the roof terrace boasts a stunning view of the city sky line and the garden is a wonderful place to enjoy the breakfast.
If we get the chance to return to Cuenca, this is the place we will stay for sure, and the place I would recommend to any friends who plan this trip!

Lovely old building, beautifully restored and decorated and comfortably furnished. Very convenient location, walking distance of everything, including the tram stop to the bus station and airport. Spacious bedroom, fabulously quiet, comfy bed, extensive buffet breakfast. Shared balcony with sofas and chairs to relax in the open air if, like us, you prefer to be outside in the daylight. Very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. We were able to leave our bags after checking out and after a day exploring Cuenca relaxed in the hotel lounge for a couple of hours before our evening flight to Quito - so much nicer than waiting at the airport!
This hotel is the best we’ve stayed at in our four weeks in Ecuador and perfect for a two or three night stay.

The hotel is not called Hotel en El Centro Historico. It's called Balcon del Arte. It took me 35 mns in a taxi to find it and 10$ instead of 2$ from the bus station. I had to stop at each hotel on the road to find the hotel asking if it was the hotel.
