The house is really amazing, it has 3 rooms. The one upstairs is gorgeous, big, with amazing sunlight and perfectly clean. In the nearby building there's the breakfast room, with western flavours (coffee,bread, eggs and bacon, fruits). The women there take care of everything and the location is surrounded in a silent, chill landscape. It's perfect for a relaxing weekend! Super recommended

There is only one word that can describe this place: Paradise. I have travelled many countries, and it was at this small little inn in the middle of nowhere that left an everlasting impression. The innkeeper, Xiao Wei, is the most wonderful innkeeper in all of China. She cooks for you like you would expect growing up in an Asian household. The proximity of the place to your own secret 20km length of the Great Wall is the main selling point. In my 4 days here, I went up the wall 3 times because the wall is just in the backyard of this inn. Pretty insane! I also met lovely people while staying there. Chances are, the people that are willing to come all the way out here to Gubeijou will also be very lovely to other guests. I cannot stress how willing I am to return to this inn for a quick getaway whenever life gets tough.

We were extremely happy with our decision to stay at this lovely family-run accommodation. The hosts were exceptionally kind and helpful. We were welcomed with warm smiles and a basket of fresh fruit, and on the day of our departure—when we were running a little late—they even offered us a free ride to the bus station. Such genuine kindness truly made our stay special. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, cozy, and perfect for a good night’s sleep. The beds were very sturdy and comfortable. The whole place has a peaceful family-home atmosphere, and it’s clear that the owners take great pride in keeping everything clean, comfortable, and welcoming. The property is set in a quiet little village with a couple of nice family-run restaurants just a short walk away. It’s about a 20-minute walk to Beijing Wtown and the bus station along a quiet paved path by the river. The walk is lovely, with beautiful nature views, and there’s even a small riverside park with towers and sculptures that light up beautifully in the evenings—great for photos. If you prefer not to walk, there are plenty of Didi drivers available at any time, and the ride to the accommodation costs only 10–14 RMB. For travelers coming from Beijing, I highly recommend taking the direct bus, which costs 48 RMB per person and takes around two hours to reach the Water Town Bus Station (cash only). The bus leaves from Dongzhimen Outer Bus Station (东直门外) at 09:00 and 13:00, and returns from Water Town at 12:00 and 17:00. Just wait beside the brown signboard that lists all departure times. Beijing Wtown itself is absolutely stunning—full of canals, traditional architecture, small cafés, restaurants, and even boat rides that glide through the waterways, making the whole place feel like a fairytale village. In the evening, when the lights come on, the scenery becomes truly magical. At 20:40 there is a drone show with the illuminated Great Wall in the background, which is unforgettable.

This property is a little gem. Just a 15 minutes walking distance from the Panlongshan section of the Great Wall, it gives you the chance to experience the sunset and sunrise on the Great Wall, and from there to reach the Jinshanling track from the West gate. But logistics is only one part of the story. The family who runs the inn is just unbelievable welcoming and helpful. They fetched me at Gubeikou station, came to pick me up after the hike, and even prepared a delicious breakfast and packed lunch for my hike. On the top of this, the quality of the room is exceptionally high. Fully equipped and very nicely decorated. A 5 star stay, that’s for sure.

great breakfast--- both asian and western. we were able to start our hike with full bellies. The bed were very comfortable and spacious. when we arrived it was 0C and the heat worked great!
