Ilha da Gigoia is the best Rio has to offer. The boat crossings are a special treat. The authentic warmth of a community without dangers, the Barra attractions without pretentiousness and high prices. Oasis do Barral fits perfectly in the island.
Of course if you want a “sophisticated” international hotel where you need a car or taxi to go anywhere, this is not for you.

Comfortable private room. Owner was friendly. The island has a cool vibe, super peaceful. The boat to and from the island is only R$3 each time. There is a really nice café only 25 metres away.

This apartment was amazing! Everything is brand new and super modern, with high quality appliances and very comfortable beds (with scented sheets). The space is very well thought out, which was perfect for the 5 of us. The view of the Lagoa from the apartment is incredible! The pool area is really nice and there's also a bar that sells food and drinks. There are more facilities too, including Sauna, games room (snooker table, table tennis and table football), but best of all, the beach is just across the road! We were contacted by the owner who was very friendly and helped answer any questions.
