The staff were ALL very friendly (and a special shout out to the lovely Mafalda who gave suggestions on what to see, answered our questions about the Portuguese language and culture, and delivered friendly smiles like warm sunshine every day without fail!) The rooms are well appointed & clean (extremely important to us!), the breakfast had a good selection each day (yes, the same foods each day, but you could select something new each day for a week without eating the same thing twice), the location is perfect (so close to beaches and a short 5-10 minute walk into town), the view is wonderful, and I miss sitting on the balcony each morning with my cappuccino enjoying the sea view and breeze with the sounds of doves cooing. The bed was comfy and the shower was great. I will definitely be back!

The 4-star Octant Furnas is located in São Miguel Island, in Vale das Furnas, site of the largest concentration of thermal waters in Europe. Beautiful place in the most magical part of the island. The staff were really great. The pools are fantastic.

It was gorgeous. The villa was everything you could wish for from the view to the decor to the breakfast. Everything was perfect.

In the heart of Ponta Delgada, this hotel features a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, mountains and the city. The marina can be found 500 metres away. The staff are absolutely lovely and so friendly.. they speak English well and try to accommodate all your requirements. they had a corkscrew and wine glasses when needed too! the breakfast is basic, no hot food but all fresh, ham, cheese, bread, rolls, pineapple, melon, cakes, yogurt, cereal and freshly squeezed orange juice, maracujá and red fruits juice, coffee and tea. The twin room had a bath and powerful hot shower, a bidet, big balcony with a side view of the sea and city, table and chairs. decor is dated and basic but you're gonna spend most of your time exploring the beautiful island! The hotel is kinda dated and smells like an old hotel but it's pleasant. they put up Xmas trees and decor in reception. so nice. Also there's access to a roof terrace with nice views of the sea, hills and city, which most hotels won't have location is great, close to everything in the centre, just 5-10mins walk

MS Vila Nova is centrally located in Ponta Delgada, 1 km from the Convento da Esperança. The hotel features an outdoor pool. My Story Hotel Vila Nova’s guest rooms are decorated in blue and grey... A short drive from the airport, perfect to catch an early flight and on a walking distance from Ponta Delgada city centre and restaurants.

This place was perfect to stay the first few nights in Sao Miguel. It had everything you need- comfy bed, separate bathroom and a equipped kitchen. I stayed in a single room the first night and then my friends and I shared a room with three single beds and attached bathroom. Parking can be tricky- the streets are narrow but we did not have any problems finding spots near the lodge. Also, you will hear planes overhead- this is close to the airport so it makes it convenient in that way but if you don't want that noise, you will want to stay farther away from the airport.
