We had a lovely stay at Mangawhai Lodge. It's located at the top of a hill and has outstanding views. Jeanette our host was absolutely lovely and made it feel like we were staying with family. Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked each day with the choice of continental with yummy fresh fruit salad as an added bonus or a eggs, bacon and such. The lodge is not right in town center, but it's a short 15 walk to get to the cafes and restaurants. It's also within 10 to 1 hour drive to many awesome experiences and places. So you can see beautiful beaches and go surfing near by, do walking routes and explore cliffs, forrest and waterfalls or even a little city life in Whangarei.

Allegra House is set high on the hill with a spectacular view of the harbour in Paihia. Brita and Heinz are wonderful hosts that really enjoy welcoming you into their home. The breakfast served on the terrace was exceptional. Our room and balcony view overlooking the Bay of Islands(Paihia) harbour was spectacular!! If visiting the area again we would stay at Allegra House!!

The beds were comfortable, AC worked good, especially during these hot summer days. Be mindful that it is an open shower. Prime location was the main reason we booked this place. City centre, cafes, restaurants, locals selling watermelons and berries, ice cream place and many more, just around the corner from the motel. Thanks again for the wonderful stay ☺️

We love the Waterfront Apartments this is our 2nd stay. Its a great location a short walk to shops, cafes, bar etc. Nestled high above the road, with great views of the harbour, beautiful sunrise to wake up to.
