Great location, lovely and very attentive hosts and awesome local cuisine. We loved the many antiques and art that was scattered around the Ryokan.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Amazing place! Food was great, staff were so nice 🙏🙏🙏 Best Value for money in Japan !

Situated at the heart of historic Takayama Old Town and just steps away from Takayama Jinya Morning Market, the traditional Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan offers personalised hospitality, hot spring baths... Staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Making us feel special throughout our stay. The food was great and the room was beautiful.

We had an extraordinary dinner. You have to book in advance, and it’s totally worth it. The beds were Japanese tatami – very comfortable. The location was great. We’d definitely recommend this place!

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Excellent quiet hotel. We stayed 2 nights there and they were nice to keep our luggage before and after the check-in and check-out time. The staff was super helpful and nice. Location is also great, very close to the train and bus station. Highly recommended!

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. I can't actually rate above 10 but if I could do it, it would be the case, the place is exquisite, we could ask for nothing more than this and the onsen on the roof are just so relaxing, for my next trip I'll definitely know where to go
