Great hotel. Good breakfast. Beautiful rooms! The rooms and the reception have authentic cave vibe. We loved it! The location is perfect. You can walk to everything in a very short time. Very helpful and nice host. You feel very welcome here. We can definitely recommend this hotel.

The best stay of our trip! Such a special place in the heart of the beautiful Matera. We were warmly welcomed after our taxi ride booked by the hotel. Anne explained us everything about Matera with great recommendations! She showed us to our beautiful room in an old matera house. The hotel has an amazing aesthetic that resonates well with the city. The breakfast is also very much appreciated with nice music.

A truly unique and memorable stay—our first time sleeping in a cave! Francesco was so warm and welcoming, greeting us with coffee and croissants and sharing a map to walk us through Matera’s rich history and must-see spots. The cave itself was a beautiful loft-style flat, cozy yet spacious. Such a special experience—we’re so glad we stayed here!

Unique kind of accommodation! The rate was above our normal practice, but we did it! We booked for one night and had a memorable experience. Once in a lifetime! Unless we ever return to Matera, in which case we will book the same room: #29! We parked the rental car at Rocco Scotellaro parking lot. Antico Convicino is at 270 meters from that parking lot. 7-8 minutes slow pace. We also followed the recommendations and only took from the car the necessary stuff. The projector with Matera related movies was such a special treat.

First and foremost I liked the location and the view in front of our room, which is stunning both during the day with the church and the hill full of old houses and during the night when you see all the houses lit up on the hill. The room was also nice and spacious, nicely decorated and part of it was cave. The breakfast was good and generous, taken at the table in front of the room.

Surrounded by the unspoilt landscape of the Murgia Materana Nature Park, Hotel Cave del Sole is just outside Matera's historic centre.

The residence is centrally located in Matera. Room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Very good shower and clean bathroom. Simple continental breakfast was provided for our stay with fresh quality spread. The owner, Ms Silvia is very kind and helpful, she provided us with good tips on exploring Matera and helped us to book a midnight taxi to the bus station. Highly recommended.
