I booked the hotel for 2 nights to visit Burger’s Zoo with my son. Hotel is a bit away from Arnhem center and we took taxi which was a good choice - very pleasant sir whose company works together with Papendal (greetings to the kind sir) who eventually took us also to the Zoo and back. I was glad to find out our room has a bath which felt a bit bizarre as I have been thinking about moving and having a bath instead of shower cause it is so much better. So we very pleasantly surprised. Beds were comfortable, room was clean. We also enjoyed some meals at the restaurant, good service, possible to sit outside or inside. Nature around which we enjoyed. Breakfast was very good, broad choice and when the pancakes were over those were made for us quick. When we left the hotel and were already on the way home my son realized that he forgot his toy Stokky somewhere. We did some investigating and found out he left it in the hotels lobby. I reached out to the hotel and thanks to Tessa & Ariane Stokky came home safe just in 2 days. We are honestly very happy with our stay at Papendal. Thank you, Team Papendal, for this wonderful experience and we wish you all the very best in everything that you do! Remember, when thought and feeling becomes one, miracles happen!✨

Whilst the restaurant food in the evening was very, very good, breakfast let it down. Good selection if cold food is your preference, hot food was cold and very salty. Seems to be an order your own omelette bar but was not manned / staff were not around for it.

Breakfast was served in a lovely solarium. Seating was tight, but cozy. Food and beverage selections were exceptional. The staff was also exceptional.

This Van der Valk offers modern rooms with a balcony just off the A50 motorway, only 10 minutes’ drive from historic Arnhem.

The room was very spacious, comfortable and equipped with a Nespresso machine. We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The food was very good. Breakfast has a wide selection. In particular, we had a wonderful dinner experience thanks to Omar's service. He is really efficient and professional!

I stayed 4 nights in July, magnificent setting for walks in nature. Bus stop just outside the hotel with direct line to Arnhem. Staff are friendly and caring asking for feedback. Food is delicious and the historic building is themed decorated. Rooms are spacious and mattress quality is better than most Fletcher hotels.
