Outstanding 5-star hotel in a historic building on a hill directly on the estuary. The hotel offers all the amenities that guests expect in this category. In the spa area there is a heated indoor pool with various whirlpools, fitness room, sauna and steam bath. The breakfast buffet is rich, varied and good. Even with boiled shrimps and champagne! The hotel has two restaurants, one of which is a “gourmet temple”. The rooms are scrupulously clean and luxuriously furnished. The staff are extremely friendly and competent. We were picked up from the parking lot with an umbrella on arrival and directed to reception. We didn't have to worry about our luggage on arrival or departure.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously! Everyone was polite, the breakfast was amazing. So was lounging by the quiet pool and the welcome wine and snacks.its like a little oasis amidst this super touristic area

Everything was amazing. Sr. Joaquim is super, super nice and attentive. I made a mistake with the number of guests in the reservation and they fully accommodated our request upon arrival. The apartment was a great spot to hang out with family in between sightseeing and the rooms were beautifully decorated. The breakfast was incredible, lots of fresh fruit, yogurt, bread and a variety of charcuterie. We are already planning out next visit, hopefully in the summer, to enjoy the pool and walk around the area a little bit more.

This hotel accomplishes that rare feat of feeling like luxury without adding a hint of pretension. We stayed for four nights and wished we could have stayed for 10. The hotel is an immaculately restored property in the heart of the old downtown of Guimaraes. The designers were thoughtful with their restoration, in that the hotel is beautiful without ruining the character of the street on which it is situated. There is attention to detail throughout the building, be that in the furnishings, the art and decor, or most notably, the service. The staff at Conquistador Palace made us truly feel at home. Tanya, Soraia and Diana all staffed the front desk and served breakfast and evening drinks with grace, kindness and professionalism. We particularly appreciated Soraia's efforts to go above and beyond by making non-alcoholic cocktails, which she did admirably well. The kitchen and cleaning staff were equally kind and professional. We appreciated Alexis's service and generous attention towards us. The food served at breakfast was a step above what we saw at other excellent properties in Portugal, and it was always a delightful way for us to start our day. The staff also helped advise us as we explored the area around Guimaraes, giving us wonderful dinner ideas and making reservations on our behalf. In all, the stay at Conquistador Palace was the very best part of our two-week trip across Portugal, and we look forward to returning.

As soon as we arrived the reception staff were so friendly and helpful, they gave us some local port and a a free room upgrade which was really spacious, comfortable and clean. The location was fantastic and very quiet given how close it is to all the restaurants. On our last day they packed us some food for breakfast as we had an early flight, nothing was too much trouble.

Xhale is an incredible oasis. Everything is perfect from the accommodations, spa, breakfast, and setting. Teresa and Tony, the owners, are the most amazing hosts and you can tell they've poured their heart into making Xhale a paradise.

From the moment we arrived we had a wonderfull experience. Thank you to the staff that was very kind, helpfull and did everything they could to make us feel welcomed. The hotel is newly opened, clean everywhere, very confortable rooms, facilities and specially beds. Breakfast is a la carte, but carrefully chosen, healthy and tasty. It's central location, makes it easy to get to all major attractions. We had everything we needed and much more (thank you for the little suprise). Overall it was much more than we expected

Excellent! A wonderful hotel right on the banks of the Douro River. The suits are comfortable and well equipped. We were looked after by the very friendly staff - Carla, Tamiä, Silvia and the kitchen staff. Always a smile and very helpful. The hotel has been designed in a very tastefully manner and with greatest love for detail. Just beautiful! The breakfast buffet had a wide selection of freshly prepared foods and is very beautifully decorated. The picnic basket is a must! A wonderful place to unwind, relax and enjoy.
