Run by a local family, Villa Shade is a charming and peaceful property surrounded by green gardens, just 4 km from Negombo City. Bicycles are available for rent, while traditional Sri Lankan breakfast is served upon request at an extra cost. Villa Shade certainly felt like coming home. We stayed for 3 nights. This place is a beautiful labour of love by Shiraj and Deepika. Full of Srilankan herbs, spices, fruit and vegetables, the garden highlights the natural beauty of Srilanka. Breakfast is delightful experience with a combination of natural juice, fruits and traditional Srilankan sweet pastries. Home cooked dinner is typically Srilankan and must be tried if you want the authentic experience. On our first day we used the bikes to cycle to negombo town and the beach. On the 2nd day Shiraj took us to the coconut toddy field to show us how toddy was extracted. After a lovely toddy, he took us to see how cinnamon was prepared with humanity. sustainability and respect. Highly recommended. You will leave experiencing typical Srilankan hospitality and a full heart and stomach 🥰

The house is very nice, clean, and comfortable — the rooms are spotless and the air conditioner is perfectly cold. The kitchen is brand new and fully equipped with modern appliances, which made our stay even more convenient. It’s a perfect place for families, and we stayed for a week very comfortably. The owner is super friendly and helpful, and the price is very reasonable. The location is also great, very close to town. Highly recommended!
