The guides were knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the environment, always respectful of the wildlife. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel at home right away. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. A perfect way to experience the jungle in a responsible and memorable way.

Guests can make use of a garden. My family and I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful, newly built villa as the first guests. The house is very bright, lovely decorated and very spacious. It's situated directly on the stunning white sand beach with a wonderful view of the turquoise ocean and nearby little islands. It has two bedrooms, well well-equipped kitchen and large living areas. We were warmly welcomed by a manager at the harbour. All the transportation, boat trips to the islands and the car rental were also easily arranged for us by the owner. The villa is situated in the heart of the main village, so you have easy access to the shops and local warnings. You can watch the fishermen in the morning and easily blend with the local people who are always incredibly friendly.

We wanted somewhere different to spend Christmas and came across Valhalla house online, the house was as amazing as it looks in the pictures and was right on the beach that you have to yourself! The house was clean & comfortable and had everything we needed - water, towels, cooking facilities etc! As the island was quite remote we were struggling to find how to get there and get around but Marcelo, the host, went above and beyond to help us out with flights and ferries. His communication was great, and he gave us some great food recommendations as well as a contact for surf lessons, which we all really enjoyed on Christmas day, and was just so helpful with all of the questions we had! Marcelo also put us in touch with a local, Dolman, who drove us to and from the airport, even though the roads were bad he made it so easy for us to get around by providing bikes at a really good price. Overall we had an amazing stay at Valhalla and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing time on a paradise island, surrounded by local culture, beautiful beaches and lots surfing!!

Even at night it's really beautiful. There are many restaurants within walking distance as well. The house itself was comfortable. The host Ranti was great as well! She's really funny and helpful. She helped us to book motorbikes and a day tour, both which turned out amazing. It's really convenient to get a ferry back to mainland as well. The ferry can stop right at the house to drop you off/pick you up.

Situated in Bukit Lawang, Magpie homestay & jungle trekking especially for guest trekking with us features accommodation with seating area. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Rooms have a balcony with views of the garden. This was by far our best stay during our whole trip in Indonesia. The bungalows were both very comfortable, we stayed in one before and the other one after the jungle tour. The place is beautifully decorated with a lot of plants and animals to see in the garden. The owner was super friendly and helped us to arrange the 3-day jungle tour, a village tour, transportation to and from Bukit Lawang, the food, and she even gave us medicine when we were ill. There is a restaurant on the property, at which you can order delicious food any hour. Such a lovely stay, this made our time in Bukit Lawang unforgettable! Thank you so much for everything!
