Cottages in Huairou

The property comes with a cozy cottage feel. The Mutianyu Great Wall cable car entrance is a short walk away. Mr Yang and his wife Lily are very friendly and hospitable. One tip to share : they will help you with the cable car ticket booking so there's no need to pre-book anything. By the way, they make a great meal so do try their home-cooked dinner menu.

We are two introverts from Australia, so we don't usually gravitate towards homestay or BnB style accommodation, however pickings are slim here in Mutianyu! So we selected this homestay and were so pleasantly surprised by our experience. Staff (this is a family run business) are kind and professional, offering friendly service that isn't overbearing. We were picked up from and dropped back to the Beijing Train Station in a clean and comfortable car for a very reasonable price (it's 90 minutes each way, not a short trip). The accommodation is already inside the scenic area so you can very much avoid the whole shuttle bus situation, and we were dropped off right to the base of the climb! We recommend trying to go in the afternoon, it was super quiet as we'd missed the tour busses and the crowds who mostly arrive in the morning. Most of our pictures have no other human beings in them! We had a delicious vegan dinner and breakfast provided with no fuss and lots of flavour. When paying for our room we also paid for our Wall tickets and add-ons which were purchased and organised on our behalf. Bonus adorable kittens and cats roaming outside the property 😍 The room had a beautiful view of the mountain and even a tiny peak of the wall. Bed was comfortable and the room was warm and clean. Plenty of water and snacks provided too. Very simple room with just the bed, one bedside table, a small seat with table, and a small bathroom, but that's all we needed.

The place was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect to spend the night near to the great wall. The owners were very kind all the time and very flexible, although they do not t speak english they use translator and are very comunicative at all times. We asked for the transfer from the airport to the accommodation and from there to Beijing city centre. They help us to get to the great wall. They also have a restaurant in the building were you can have breakfast/lunch or dinner, we enjoy the food a lot. Wish them all the best.

We stayed in the family room, which was gorgeous with a hanging bed, hot tub and projector. There was a terrace with views of the Great Wall. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, even driving my family to the Great Wall entrance.
