We picked Colourful BnB for its location on our way when travelling by car across South Africa. Honestly, we planned it just for a night break and weren’t expecting much. But Wow - we wish we had booked to stay longer and make it our accommodation for exploring the Garden Route. It's more than BnB! The house is spacious and well equipped (even some musical instruments are there). The wood for BBQ, wines and crafted beer were prepared for our arrival. We heartily thank Gert-Jan for his advice to upgrade our initial booking and for his hospitality. The hosts are really love their place.

Lovely cottage on a in the trees. Big space, comfortable bed an nice surroundings. The owners are extremely nice and helpful. It is perfectly situated close to the N2 but far from the noise. Very safe place. And as a bonus I had the visit from the Knysna Turaco

A hidden gem! The drive up is extremely misleading, this is a true secluded jungle experience with open 360 views from the room. We booked a spa experience which was private and romantic. All meals we had in house were delicious, and they catered for Vegetarian dietary requirements. A great location in the heart of the Garden Route!

We had a wonderful stay in Lily Pond Country Lodge. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Bronwan was the most dedicated manager we‘ve ever came across. She did a great job in giving us advices on daily trips. We had the opportunity to eat twice at the restaurant and the chef has created great menus for us! The waiters were excellent. Can`t thank you enough, arrived on the Friday,9th very tired and very heartsore, have lost my husband very unexpectedly exactly 5 months prior, to a heart attack, that came from nowhere. This was my first official outing on my own and the cottage was all I needed. Went to one of my best friends son`s wedding at Kay and Monty Vineyard on the Saturday , sadly she had died the year before my husband , so the cottage was such bliss and peace and nuturing for my sore soul. Thank you , will come back again.

A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants.

A beautiful region, with excellent restaurants. The Grootrivier and (Western Cape part of) the Bloukrans River passes are exceptional, as is Nature's Valley. The Birds of Eden is THE world leading bird conservancy -- the biggest anywhere with free flying birds in a magnificent forest with a beautiful kloof, waterfall ,,, The nearby Monkeyland and Jukani conservancies are also probably the best in Africa. Thyme & Again restaurant is also a favourite.

This is definitely not a family holiday spot!

This is definitely not a family holiday spot! It could, at best, be a backpackers lodge. The water in the bathrooms was brownish, and although there were assurances that it was healthy, we were sceptical. The rooms were tiny and barely furnished. The kitchen is communal and almost 100 meters away from the rooms - very inconvenient for those rainy days! What about the toilet and bathroom outside the rooms! We had surely booked the wrong place, and stayed only for one night out of four.

Its a wonderful place to stay, especially since it is 18kms from Plettenberg Bay, so its more serene than Plett over the height of summer. There is a lot to do in the vicinity. We loved our visits to the elephant sanctuary (an absolute must-do), the wolf sanctuary, Birds of Eden, Tenikwa (wildlife rehabilitation), Jukani (wildlife sanctuary, especially for Big Cats) and Monkeyland. There's a super water park (Adventureland) about 19kms away, with fabulous waterslides. We made the mistake of not booking restaurants for dinner in advance. Over late December / early January most places were fully booked, which really limited our options and we spent a lot of time calling around, which we could have avoided. I would scout the restaurants and book well in advance next time.

One of the best places we ever stayed during our travels! Beautifully decorated, so many details! As if you are walking though a vintage shop. Very tranquil with the views and all the animals walking around. They all love to cuddle! The owners are very friendly and prepare amazing food every night served in the lovely restaurant. We ended up eating there every night. Location wise ideal to explore the Plettenberg bay area without staying in the busy areas.

The owner is amazing and has been the kindest and most engaged owner we met during our whole trip in South Africa. We got a free upgrade and greatly enjoyed our stay. The property itself is nice and you could spend all your time there, but there is also loads of fun in the immediate surroundings like Birds of Eden, wine tastings, and Nature's Valley.
