What a hidden gem, absolutely stunning! Had such a great time, too bad it was a short stay. I received a very warm welcome.The lodge is quiet, peaceful and surrounded by nature. My room was beautiful, clean and comfy. I also had a great dinner at Ulumbaza Barn: cosy place, delicious food, and the wines were a real joy. Breakfast was such a treat! Shout out to the team, they were amazing: warm, professional and very attentive.

Where dreams come true: We were spoiled for comfort, attention, care in these magnificent surroundings! The building is intriguingly designed, one feels like on a ship in the dunes. In the evening, spectacular sunset views await. At night, it's a perfect location for star gazing. With any weather, the views on the sea and mountains are spectacular! The central fire place makes the mornings and evenings comfy and cozy. The food is all freshly prepared with fresh ingredients and very tasty. The host family are the warmest and gentlest we've ever met. "Be at home", they said. We were.

Stanford is a quaint, peaceful and very beautiful Village.

Stanford is a quaint, peaceful and very beautiful Village. It offers the chance to rekindle your oneness with nature and explore the beauty of the surrounding countryside and Reserves. Stanford offers a unique shopping experience, which seemingly encourages a more relaxed, ambient pastime. We were very privileged to be able to dine at Madre's, an iconic restaurant with food to match, a gastronomic experience in itself. There appears to be annual shows held in the town, those being the Flower Show and the Motor Shows, both of which appear to attract great interest from locals and holidaymakers alike. A beautiful and very special town, with its very own personality and charm.

We specifically visited Stanford because the Stanford in...

We specifically visited Stanford because the Stanford in Bloom Festival was on at the time, which made lots of sense for both convenience and pleasure. Coots Club had daily excursions on offer, but being South African we were more than comfortable keeping ourselves busy. A day or two here is enough, it is also a fabulous springboard for activities in and around the area.

Well run and clean village, close to all the amenities in Hermanus, but still having a country feel. Superb meal at Agteros, Chelsea exhibit was stunning and permaculture garden of Cavelle Kelly was fascinating.

It's a quiet, understated town in the middle of high...

It's a quiet, understated town in the middle of high mountains, vast green space and quietness. Accessible from Cape Town and close enough to Hermanus for activities. It has small town charm, but you feel like you're in the country. Not touristy at all. Neat and clean.

Small peaceful & friendly village in Overberg region, scenic drive from Cape Town. Market and surrounding shops appealing and surrounds make for a great weekend away. Birkenhead is pet friendly, has delicious food & craft beer, fireplace and great views.

Stanford has quickly risen to my top local stay.

Stanford has quickly risen to my top local stay. The locals are welcoming and there is much to do for those who are looking for adventure. For someone who just wants to rest, it is bountiful in scenic views and tranquility. Great food and fun to be had by all!

This was my third stay, and it is a firm favourite. Everything about Stanford Valley Guest Lodge is wonderful; the welcome bottle of bubbly in our room, the location, the facilities, the food, the decor and the staff, who are all delightful, helpful and interested in the comfort and happiness of their guests. Our spa treatment was also excellent. We are already looking forward to our next stay there! We also just loved the beautiful new pool facility.

wonderful small cottage in a beautiful garden in the Stanford. Everything you need to relax and enjoy. We stayed there for 4 nights. Good location to explore the surrounding area of Gaansbai, Cape Agulas and Hermanus. Small, nice restaurants in the little town within walking distance. We also had a fantastic finedining experience at Sprinfontain Wine Estate with gourmet food. Excellent and recommended😊
