We stayed at Ploughman‘s Rest for 3 nights and absolutely enjoyed it. The villa is very comfortable and nicely decorated. Daleen was just wonderful and spoiled us with a great breakfast and the best typical South African dinner every day. We enjoyed her ideas for exploring the surroundings a lot as well as talking to her about the farm. Ploughman“s Rest was the best place to start our roundtrip through the northeastern regions of South Africa. We would love to come back next time and highly recommend Ploughman“s Rest when visiting the Blyde River Canyon region

The lodge was extremely comfortable, luxurious and relaxing. The rooms were spacious with wonderful views across the bush. seating outside was comfortable and private. The restaurant area and communal lounge area was very tastefully decorated in keeping with nature , local culture and the environment. The information in the rooms was not only extremely informative but interesting across a range of subjects from the local school to the flora and fauna. Peter and Claudia were very welcoming and helpful and we really wished we had planned to stay longer as there was clearly so much to do in the area and we will definitely return the next time we are heading out on safari.

The people are super friendly and helpful. We had a flat tyre and they took all the hassle with the rental company on them and we received an exchange the next day. The food was excellent with a good variety for Europeans who are not so used to SA food.

What a great find. You know on the long gravel road in that it’s going to be fabulous and it is. Lovely lady greeted us and really looked after us for the few days we were there. Lovely room, comfortable beds and a hot shower. Beautiful views over the river and valley. There’s a common room with lots of books, sofas, pool table, tennis table AND a piano. Fantastic. Food in the restaurant was also very good and the breakfast was excellent.
