Ever heard of Nieu-Bethesda, the owl house? We were very pleased to eventually visit Nieu-Bethesda, even more so when we arrived at Furrows Lodge. The room (outside) was spacious and well equipped. The setting is in and amongst trees, tranquil. Swimming pool and braai facilities are also available. Try "Die Waenhuis" Restaurant for a meal (part of Furrows Lodge). Everything is within walking distance. Highly recommended.

Petra has a gem of a cottage! Love the overall feel of the space. Perfect location within walking distance of all main attractions and restaurants. Absolutely scenic and gorgeous. I love that this little spot had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable- including good coffee, fresh milk in the fridge and a bag of wood for the fire- so thoughtful 😊 Thanks for a lovely stay.

Our stay was an overnighter, part of a road trip on our way to Cape Town. Much too short. What a beautiful farm! The morning of our departure, we managed an easy hike up to the Hidden Waterfall. Should have stayed longer to do the other hikes. Well appointed and stylish accomodation.

This is not my first visit - from a personal view, the...

This is not my first visit - from a personal view, the minute I climbed out of my car on the first visit, I felt like I was home. The tiny town that time forgot - a place that nourishes the soul. The people I encountered on each visit, restored my faith in humanity and the peace and quiet feeds your body, mind and soul. Love that I can walk everywhere and just exist, warts and all.

Quaint town, beautiful to walk around.

Quaint town, beautiful to walk around. Tourism was quiet but we had a very enjoyable experience. We will be back. I love that it has farm almost in town, it has that old fashioned back to basics feel. The scenery is spectacular.

Complete break from city life in the best possible way.

Complete break from city life in the best possible way. I can't comment on the restaurants as we chose to braai - I have no words to describe the night sky. The stars were breathtaking. The Owl House is a must see. Sadly we ran out of time for the fossil museum and the Stone People. We will definitely be back.

Time seems to have stopped in Nieu Bethesda.

Time seems to have stopped in Nieu Bethesda. It is refreshing and humbling to see how simply people live and yet how full their lives are - there is colour and mystery and warmth and friendliness everywhere you go. A few days here reminds one of what is important - goodness and kindness and faith and gratitude and relationships... and GREAT food!

Nieu Bethesda makes a great destination.

Nieu Bethesda makes a great destination. This quaint Karoo towns main attraction is Helen Martin's Owl House. Besides the town's scenery and ambience there are a number of other attractions. It's easy to walk around town once you get there. The areas is also great for gravel and mountain bike cycling.

Tranquil, and location is great. Away from everything even though not a long drive to get there. Wished we could have stayed longer. A good spot to relax, rest and find oneself after a busy year.
