Loved our stay, wish we'd booked another night. The food was outstanding. Our guide was wonderful we just loved everything. Note this is a conservation lodge there is not a plethora of animals but the time with animals was wonderful.

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most...

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most restaurants close at 17:00 on a Monday. However, our host recommended we have dinner at the Karoo Art Hotel with a choice of fine dining or pub dinner. We choose pub dinner, which was delicious. Beautiful trail walks can be found around the farms. All-in-all a wonderful trip.

Lovely quiet country village.

Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient...

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.

I love that the people there have old school charm, honest...

I love that the people there have old school charm, honest and down to earth. The arty vibe and friendliness stand out for me. If you love reading as I do, it is just perfect. Peaceful, relaxed and lovely. Great architecture in town and amazing rock formations and plants on the outskirts. It just has so much interesting facets.

Lot's a quirky spots to visit, some great food, and perfect for walks and biking. Diesel and creme was a hit, food was great. Karoo hotel is great spot too for a dinner or to watch some sport. Ronnie's Sex Shop can only be believed once seen! We didn't stay long, but I'm not sure how much there was for kids to do in the area.

I've known Barrydale for decades and it has mostly retained its quaintness and country charm. A lively little town with interesting shops and restaurants, close to places like Warmwaterberg (hot spring) and a good stop-over between George and Cape Town.

This was our second stay there. It is a massive house with 7 rooms but smaller groups are welcome. My kids love it as there are enough lawn to play ball games and they have a netball hoop. In summer they can swim, and the outside braai area is cleaned everyday. In winter you can cozy up at the fireplace. We like the fact that the Karoo hotel next to the villa has freshly baked muffins and scones and for lunch amazing bread. Barrydale is a rustic town but with lots of restaurants and little shops to browse through

Directly next to iconic Diesel & Creme you find the hidden gem Karoo Moon hotel. It‘s artsy, it‘s edgy, it‘s spacious the perfect stop for a night or two in Barrydale. In the suite we had two living rooms, a very spacious and cozy king size bed, a second bed, four very big comfy chairs and a small kitchenett. The decoration is just outstanding.

The location was really convenient; only 6 minutes outside Barrydale, so we could pop in and see a few things there. The place is so rustic which is exactly what we like. Views were outstanding and we really had a relaxing time. Cerise was a fantastic host and sharing local things to do and keeping us up to date.

The location is close to R62 and not difficult to reach with a car. Everything worked and was in stock. Information regarding the specials in Barrydale was shared. The area has limited signal thus allowing for relaxation.
