an absolute beauty of a hotel, so unique and the joy of all the different decor in the rooms. The staff also were so professional and warm and friendly, especially Candice at the front desk. The outdoor facilities are gorgeous too and we had a dip in the pool. The only downside was we only had one night there I would suggest if you're going book 2 or more nights!

This is a lovely, neat, and well-equippes cottage with plenty of character in the fine details of its interior decor. On our first evening, we were spoiled with delicious cheese and crackers to enjoy with our cocktails on the patio. Wonderful coffee and rusks were also set out for us in the kitchen. Our hostess made fantastic recommendations for restaurants and local attractions to visit.

Sandy’s place is in a great position in Barrydale. Easy to find and very safe. Everyone was incredibly helpful at the property, including help with my very first braai. The room was cleaned every day and sheets were changed regularly. The swimming pool came in very handy when it became hot.

If you are someone who follows the crowd then this motel is probably not for you. If however you want somewhere slightly different and memorable then book before someone else does. Situated in a renovated house the motel has 2 distinctive rooms. The one we stayed in was full of shabby chic furniture artfully put together much of which gave it a unique and quirky feel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the rooms were spotlessly clean. We. had our own sitting room,dinning area, kitchen space( no cooker but microwave) and an excellent shower room with plenty of hot water and small terrace. It forms part of the Diesel and Crème cafe which is a destination on Route 62 in its own right. See separate review. It is also amazing value for money. Book if you can.

Our stay at the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve was extraordinary. The scenario is breathtaking, and the hospitality is warm and welcoming. The services are top-notch, and the lodges are luxurious and well-maintained. The organization of the safaris is flawless: we spotted giraffes, elephants, lions, cheetahs, rhinos and antelope. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and accommodating, making the experience even more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to immerse themselves in South Africa's wilderness.

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most...

Unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and most restaurants close at 17:00 on a Monday. However, our host recommended we have dinner at the Karoo Art Hotel with a choice of fine dining or pub dinner. We choose pub dinner, which was delicious. Beautiful trail walks can be found around the farms. All-in-all a wonderful trip.

Lovely quiet country village.

Lovely quiet country village. Interesting little shops & great 2nd hand bookshop. Great walks/hikes & excellent restaurants (highly recommend "Mud"). Lots of interesting history.

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient...

Route 62 is a great drive and Barrydale is a convenient distance from Cape Town for a stop, The village is small but has interesting places to visit. Arrive in time to look round and leave the next by lunchtime the next day - that's all the time you need but it's worth taking time to stop and look round. We found it a friendly place and were not pestered by beggars.

I love that the people there have old school charm, honest...

I love that the people there have old school charm, honest and down to earth. The arty vibe and friendliness stand out for me. If you love reading as I do, it is just perfect. Peaceful, relaxed and lovely. Great architecture in town and amazing rock formations and plants on the outskirts. It just has so much interesting facets.

Lot's a quirky spots to visit, some great food, and perfect for walks and biking. Diesel and creme was a hit, food was great. Karoo hotel is great spot too for a dinner or to watch some sport. Ronnie's Sex Shop can only be believed once seen! We didn't stay long, but I'm not sure how much there was for kids to do in the area.

I've known Barrydale for decades and it has mostly retained its quaintness and country charm. A lively little town with interesting shops and restaurants, close to places like Warmwaterberg (hot spring) and a good stop-over between George and Cape Town.

We loved this little cottage - located in a beautiful tucked away valley with a magnificent view. We loved that it was pet friendly, and private. We did a nice walk and swam in the dam. The cottage was comfortable with everything we needed. Loved the front deck, amazing stars at night. Also close to Barrydale but still secluded. The owner was very communicative as well and even shared some upcoming events in Barrydale with us.

What a wonderful spot in the Karoo. Barrydale is worth the visit & if you are, the Karoo Art Hotel surely ranks among one of the best. The experience from the check in to the pub, to the rooms along with the public areas is amazing. Relatively close to all the attractions, makes this a joy to stay at.

Beautiful room with the most stunning view! The unit was spacious, with practical things that make it convenient for the guests, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. The hostess was very friendly and provided a lot of information on Barrydale and surrounds. We also loved the beautiful garden.
