Despite being one of the largest cities in Vietnam, the traffic is not over-the-top like in Hanoi and HCM. The pavements are wide and not used as overcrowded parking places for motorbikes. There is enough street life, with many food shops offering local dishes for less than 5 euro, including a soft drink. The local people are friendly, and most of them are not shy to speak English.

Floating market did not meet my expectation.

Floating market did not meet my expectation. Too many tourist boats while too few fruit and food boats. There were no official pricing for the tour. You basically had to do the haggling if you did not want to be ripped off.. Very underwhelming experience for my family

Can Tho is a large city in the Mekong Delta area of Vietnam. Although there aren't many tourist attractions, I think 3 days and 2 nights are enough if you just want to visit and see the sights. However, if you want to stay longer and enjoy the peaceful life, that's perfectly okay too. My top choice for accommodation is B Home Hostel, which is located in a small street where there are no tourists. Here, you can experience how the local people live.

Tourism in Can Tho revolves around the river and associated events. We, as seasoned Vietnam travellers (26 months in the last 15 years), did not do what most travellers on their first visit would deem necessary - an early morning tour of the floating markets (5am start) would seem to be very popular. If you do not fancy an early start, try hiring a 4-seat sampan for a 2-hour morning leisurely cruise up the river to the site of the floating market where you will still see life on the river, but without the hustle and bustle - you can negotiate a 2-hour cruise for 250,000 VND - bargain hard, but if not successful, retire with a smile and try again later - four moored waiting sampans and only one set of tourists makes it a buyer's 'market', There are three large, moored, floating restaurants at the pier - they seemed very popular each evening, but maybe not so popular with those travelling on a limited budget - check menu prices before committing. An interesting place to visit (free) is the original French administration prison (near the Ninh Kieu Footbridge) which was used initially by the French to incarcerate troublesome political activists, and after 1954 by the South Vietnanese government for similar purposes, and finally by the newly-reunified-Vietnam government after the fall of the South Vietnamese government at the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. The original French overnight leg-iron restraints would appear to have remained in use by all the various administrations wanting to detain their unwanted activists!!!

This was an absolute gem of a place. The location is brilliant, and the room facilities were the best of any of the other hotels we have stayed in so far in Vietnam... and for a much better price. The manager was highly personable and the staff were so kind. The restaurant is the best in Can Tho, absolutely delicious, we have the five spice chicken and prawn curry!

This hotel is super modern and cool, it has a 24 hours gym, co-working area, launderette (which was very useful for us after travelling for a while) ans a rooftop swimming pool with incredible views of the city. the location is perfect to explore the Mekong delta and busy Can Tho. breakfast was very nice and staff very attentive and kind.

Hotel is very good located, just few steps from the main promenade and Can Tho Market. Room was very spacious, we've got a free upgrade to 3 bed room. Beds very comfortable, and everywhere very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful - they arranged for us a bus ticket reservation to Ben Tre. Highly recommended place.
