Great location and the facility is well maintained. Love their valet parking as no need to worry about parking in the city. Especially, the doorman and front desk man were offering everything he made customer happier like the front desk person offered to bring ice for my daughter’s Stanley cup. We love this place.

Absolutely loved the vibe and staff that greeted on arrival. Friendly to the last minute you check out. That is everybody. The reception, the bell man whose services you even didn't require. Everyone maintains the impression that you the guest number one. This hotel is more like that Continental hotel from John Wick movies. The location beats all. There is happy hour with liqueurs from 17 to 18. In the mornings there is hot water and coffee in the lobby. Perfect San Francisco stay. There is more. The coffee espresso machine in the room is Illy. There are also refillable aluminum bottles for water. The pantry where you can refill are on 03 and 07 floor. Your will appreciate the rooms overlooking the inner yard as they are especially shielded from street noises. The BART station is Montgomery and is 07 mins walk. Not convinced? We were very well taken care of during our stay at The Mansion on Sutter. The place is absolutely beautiful, feeling like a museum in addition to being a hotel. The staff was incredibly attentive to our needs. We were celebrating a birthday and were delighted to receive an upgrade, which made our stay even more special. We also discovered a fantastic gourmet Italian deli right in front of the hotel, and the food there was excellent. All in all, this was an amazing experience, and I would absolutely return in the future—something I’m already planning to do. Thank you to the very kind and generous staff for making our visit so memorable!

FAQs about hotels in San Francisco

An Icon of Liberalism

Home to one of America’s icons – the Golden Gate Bridge – San Francisco is a liberal city where life is very much for the living.

Surrounded on 3 sides by water, it is spread over steep hills that make for great photo opportunities. None better than the zig-zag Lombard Street seen in many a film. Other movie stars are the streetcars plying the hill climbs – a little touristy, but still worth trying.

In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz island, famed for the notorious criminals once imprisoned there. Even if you don’t fancy going inside, the views towards the bridge and city are unparalleled.

Nowhere in San Francisco is life more laidback than on the Pacific beaches. Hire a bike and head out there via the huge Golden Gate Park, before returning to sample some fresh seafood at Fisherman’s Wharf. The clam chowder served in (yes, actually in!) bread is a delight. Chinatown also has a great selection of good value restaurants.

As you fly into San Francisco Airport, look out for the exclusive homes lining the Bay Area. Whether you want to stay in apartments along those lines, luxury San Francisco hotels or cheap hostels, Booking.com has something to suit. Be careful though – you might just leave your heart here.

Im glad I was allowed to visit San Francisco.

Im glad I was allowed to visit San Francisco. I recommend anyone who decides to go there or are sent there by their business must go by the Golden Gate Bridge and try to take pictures there. You wont regret it.

San Francisco continues to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Vistas of the bay, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, and the city are iconic and it's easy to find places to see the best views. Museums are amazing - do check out the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. And SF is very safe - perhaps a few small areas that aren't, which is true of most places where humans have gathered - but I walked alone for many miles and had no fears. (I'm a 70-year-old woman.) Enjoy!

San Francisco is beautiful and there is so much to see, 4 days would be the perfect length of the trip if you really want to have a taste of the city and enjoying it without rushing. I loved Union square, with city lights, shopping and restaurants. Fisherman wharf was a nice spot, Alcatraz is a must, so interesting.

We are living not far from San Francisco and take the opportunity often to visit. As a city I can highly recommend SFO, especially the area on the warf. It has amazing landmarks. Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz... Other areas of the city are also great to see.

Wonderful vibe.

Wonderful vibe. Safe, clean, and I can't wait to return to spend more time in this spectacular city with so such to offer. We were there for work and only so a tiny part of the city but I loved walking around the embarcadero where we stayed for a few days and enjoyed the bay, piers and markets. Spending a day in the Golden gate park walking and enjoying all of the activity and sites. Japan town and the marvelous food and people are also high on my list. Can't wait to return to explore more of the sites.

We stayed in the Fisherman's Wharf area which was really great. A few homeless "spaced out" wandering around but avoidable. The Big Red Bus was great & was a 2 1/2hrs in total which took a trip across the golden Gate Bridge. Alcatraz is a must see as was the Trolley Tram. Some areas of the city of San Fran I would avoid, a lot of drug affected people on the streets, not some areas I would go at night time. We took the tram for a round trip to also see the sights but found that the last stop was in a non-desirable area & had to wait 20 minutes for another tram to take us back to the Wharf area. We followed the rule of "don't make eye contact' & kept to ourselves. Would certainly go back though as we did not have enough time to explore everything we would have liked to. There were loads of driverless cars getting about which was unique for us as Aussies.

As you enter the staff are so welcoming. The location is great for a base, close to union square, chinatown and trams to get around .but a few roads away so not so hectic which is nice.the rooms were a good size with modern decor and really comfy beds. Had everything you needed amenity wise. Would definitely recommend it as a base for san francisco. There is a handy 7/11 store across the road and a nice American diner a few doors down . And a cool bar in the hotel itself. Great choice!

Well-located just around the corner from Union Square and five minutes from the Chinatown area of San Francisco. We enjoyed strolling down to the harbour area (easy once you clear the hill, or take a detour across a couple of blocks where the gradient is less steep!) and this could be done in 35-45 minutes. The service was also very good.
