FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favourite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognisable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. The original Spanish mission, the first in California, has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighbourhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbour seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodation encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

San Diego has much to offer, and I wish we could have stayed longer to explore more! Loved visiting Balboa Park, and finding local eateries in the neighborhoods. A must is An's Drycleaning, which is an ice cream shop. It is an experience! Little Italy and the farmer's market there does not dissapoint.

San Diego is a fun weekend city. I've been here a couple times have always enjoyed the weather, the nice cityscape, the beaches, nearby areas like PB, UCSD, etc. Lots of places to eat, and plenty of bars and activities to have fun at.

San Diego is a wonderful destination for families, couples and singles. There is something for everyone in the city and environs. The natural bay makes a harbor cruise a must. Mission Bay with SeaWorld and some great resorts is a great choice for families. There are a few world class museums in Balboa Park as well as the incredible San Diego Zoo. You can experience virtually any cuisine that you wish to try at a variety of great restaurants, cafes and bars. Don't miss a trip over the Coronado Bridge to the village and the Del Coronado Hotel.

It's a great, well kept city full of nightlife and interesting things to do, kind of ruined by all the homeless people and the really constant smell of urine. Also, don't expect to do much shopping, retail seems like a foreign concept to the city for some reason.

Excellent location. Little Italy 1 min from hotel, Marina 20 min walk. Seafront, Conventions Centre and Gaslamp a nice 30/40 min walk or you could easily catch the trolley, $2.50 for a single ride or get a day pass for $6.50 dollars. Full of restsurants, no booking needs. We stayed at the Urban Boutique Hotel, close to all resaurants/tram service, equally you could walk, enjoyed every minute! Lovely people, lovely food, lovely place. I will definitely visit San Diego again!

Wonderful hotel, modern art niveau style hotel with industrial design touches. Nice, spacious rooms with comfortable big beds. Location is walking distance to the nice areas in San Diego, such as Little Italy, the Gaslamp District, Balbao park, and, a little bit further but still at walkable distance, the very cosy Hillcrest area.

Recently spent 5 days here, had a fantastic time in a fantastic location, in fact Del Mar Beach hotel takes some beating when comes to location, close to everything and right on the beach, hence the name. Great outside area, also rooms lovely, very friendly staff, go above and beyond to help. We will be back !
