The hotel is beautifully located, cozy, intimate - for those who like their peace and quiet, not a mass-tourist approach, like many other hotels in Zanzibar. It's definitely a place with a soul and one-of-a-kind. :) Laura, the owner, is very helpful and provided us with a lot of recommendations on what to see and do in Zanzibar. The breakfast in the restaurant was plenty - fresh fruit, local donuts, freshly squeezed juice, great coffee, tea, plus menu a la carte - I recommend avocado toast, also pancakes were delicious, sausages, eggs... You name it. Every day we tried something different :) Generally, the restaurant and food in Poa Poa have always been totally delicious!! We ate lunch and dinner there (accommodation includes just breakfast) because the menu is rich, and they have an excellent chef that we've met, compliments :) As for their food quality and menu, the price is very, very good, cheap even. We've tried other restaurants in Kiwengwa and Poa Poa has been our number one choice. Plus we've always been treated so nicely (great service). Generally, the staff is very nice and helpful, especially waiters. We really enjoyed the live music evening :))) Sadly, we've managed to see just one (but was so much fun! Also special Swahili food, so you could really get the feel of Zanzibar!), but apparently they do live music twice a week (we've been there for just 3 days). You can also get a massage in the hotel, and they offer different kinds. Generally, we've been really happy with the place and would recommend it for people looking for an intimate romantic getaway or a family holiday with great food, location, clean beach, and ocean views. Authentic place!

"Where travelers meet their ultimate experience" What I, my family, and friends loved the most about Marafiki was the hospitality. It was absolutely more than what we expected. The establishment is located right on the beachfront with an incredible view as you gaze from the bar over the pool with a cocktail in your hand. The rooms were clean and stylish, decorated with island-style fixtures,- charming and refreshing. At night you can hear the lemurs and if you are lucky even spot one. Many days were spent beside the pool with music softly in the background, you ooze into your beach chair as the sun gently strokes over your skin. It's monsoon season during the month of April and some would say not the best season to visit, but I disagree. It's actually the best time with not many tourists and you experience more scenery, culture, and food. Marafiki Bungalows provides a great setup,- catering for couples, friends, and families. With a menu for every day and an exciting lineup with live music and entertainment, we had no choice, but to stay in and be part of the fun. We had our children with us, and they couldn't get enough of the pool( baby pool too), and also the toys Marafiki provides that helped a lot. The resort also provides kayak boats, life jackets, and water shoes for exploring alongside the beach. My brother-in-law proposed in the spa which overlooks the ocean with small sea shells that hang from the arch, and to top things off, -we had our friend's wedding at Marafiki! Lanterns, shells, and little stones create a pathway to the altar. Just imagine it...These special events were made all possible by the incredible staff, Ester, Michal, and Justina. And let's not forget the rest of the team. The kitchen, the gardeners that cheerfully greet you every morning" Jambo!" The waiters and a special thank you to Sunshine- Who keeps smiling. The staff at Alpha Boutique were very pleasant and eager to ensure we were comfortable.They welcomed us in when we requested for early check in given our flight time and also took the initiative to send an airport shuttle upon our arrival at 3am. They don’t smile at all. I’ve never seen that in any hotel here in Zanzibar. Food took 1h to come during lunch & dinner. I wasn’t feeling well to grab the breakfast, so my wife took me 2 croissants from there to bring to the room. And they started to fight with her because food cannot go out. Have you ever seen this ? During our checkout, the belarussian girl didn’t say us thank you for staying with us. I don’t advice to stay there ! There’s much better places to stay.

I think it is the first time that I give a hotel 10/10 and full in every category. This little boutique beach hotel is a hidden paradise in Kiwenga on the east coast of Sansibar. The owners are very friendly, make everything possible and created their own little home. There are only a few rooms, so it is very exclusive. Breakfast was a selection of different elements and it was delicious. So, if you want to leave the stress behind and simply relax: go for Boho Boutique.

Almost private pool, there are just 2 or 3 rooms and you get to have a pool and a beautiful garden in which you can chill and enjoy nature. The restaurant offers one of the most genuine and tasty dishes we had in Zanzibar and everything is fresh (the owner gets the fish and the lobsters straight from the fisherman at the beach!). The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is so friendly and kind.

We are foodies, and found heaven in Zanzibar, the owners are very involved with the kitchen and kept our bellies full with complimentary dishes to try out the day's special menu's, funky cocktails, great views, private beach, not many people around, perfect for those who wanna read a book and relax in the sun, Will absolutely come back, thank you so much. 🏝️
