The property is amazing, large , very comfortable with an amazing garden and if lucky enough to get the gardener he will take coconuts down from the trees for you to drink the water . Each room has its own bathroom which is very handy. The dinning table is also handy and the very large kitchen makes it really good to cook a family meal. The house is located in an African neighbourhood about 20 minutes from stonetown. I loved the fact that I went back to the real Africa with lots os little tradesman around . In front of the house you have a seamstress that made some clothes for me. The house is very well cared for by the owner’s sister that will do anything for you. I was also very lucky to have an amazing taxi driver recommended by the owner. If you need a driver don’t doubt in contracting him for the day because he will take you around with no issue and is a very kind man.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at Pongwe Beach Hotel. Our room was amazing, with our own pool for a dip in the mornings, as well as a lovely pool. The size of the resort meant we never felt crowded at the pool or dinner facilities. The menu was amazing, dinner options changed daily and everything was ordered was delicious with fantastic, fresh produce.

What an absolute gorgeous gem of a hotel in Stone Town. Truly authentic building and decor and incredible bedrooms. I stayed in the ‘Kate’ room which was utterly delightful. Beautiful private terrace overlooking the town, enormous bedroom (beautifully decorated) and an open-air bathtub adjoining. Super private. Gorgeous to wake up in the morning and open the doors and feel the breeze filter through. Beautiful bed linen and towels (woven locally) and handmade soaps. If you are into aesthetics, then this is the place for you. I can’t say enough to rate the hotel. All the staff were absolutely delightful and super attentive (as a single female traveller it was very much appreciated). The Manager was extremely kind and friendly. Also organised a fantastic private tour of the town for me which was brilliant. The rooftop restaurant is to die for. The best, authentic and freshest of food I have ever eaten.The taster plate experience with sunset and cocktails was dreamy. Amazing views and ambiance. Didn’t want it to end! The Secret Garden restaurant is also absolutely worth a visit. I attended on a Friday evening when there was live music being performed. Truly magical. Again, the food was just amazing and the staff all super kind.
