I have stayed before a year ago, and stayed in the forest room this time, which was renovated and so fresh and slick inside. The beach is amazing at low and high tide, and those magical sunsets. The staff down in the restaurant and bar are amazing so attentive and friendly and that bar on the beach is lovely.

In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location.
In general, the hotel was okay, with an excellent location. However, there were some issues to address:
The breakfast had a good variety of food, but unfortunately, warm items were cold. When I requested my sausages to be reheated, they were returned cold, accompanied by a surprised question about wanting them hot. It would be better if the staff anticipated the preference for warm breakfast items.
The bed was so uncomfortable, causing back pain every morning. I tried all sides of mattress, and anyways there was a pit regardless of the position. This might be specific to only my bed, but it needs attention.
The restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices, and the waiters speaks good English and are polite ( except trainees)
Cleanless! Room was clean and tide, but there were several diferent bugs around, but its Africa, you just need to ask to spray your room for bugs (i asked but they never did) and you need to ask for wc paper and ask for clean towels. Water pression in the shower and hot water was very good.
Unfortunately AC didnt wor for last 2 nights. I guess a gas just finished, but noone came to check on it, just excuses about low voltage. Well, when voltage was low even fridge was not working, bet when voltage restored AC and fridge worked excellent. Water got frozen in the fridge in 1h - so thats not a low voltage at all.
Despite the issues, I tought I would consider to come back, but after last 2 nights struggles, I doubt about it.
Particularly I would suggest a room with a sea view and small private pool, keeping in mind that perfection may not exist in every aspect, especially in a place like Zanzibar.

The internet is going to tell you Kendwa has the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar....it has not....not at all....yes, the beach is nice and wide and white.....but there is no vegetation at all, it's full of sunbeds and umbrellas from the resorts/hotels....way to many traders and not much to offer than going up and down, only to then retreat to your hotel or some place with shade....if you come here for drinks or a party, fine, but don't waste all of your vacation here, when there are many other cheaper and more beautiful places on the island...

Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too...
Kendwa beach in its self is one of the best I have been too and I have been a regular beach traveller worldwide for the last 40 years. The only advice I would suggest would be to vet the hotel thoroughly as sunseabar was not upto standard it advertised. Go out into local restaurants we tried 4 different ones all were superb so far superior to the hotel

Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach!
Clean, small and quiet guest house right on the beach! They welcome you with a delicious fresh tropical juice! It is nice to see local people and fishermen living just next door. In the other hand thou, the front sea is full of boats that make swimming a bit complicated. The staff is very kind. Rooms are sober but clean and furnitures are nicely wooden. Breakfast is in range(no buffet, no choice) but good. Very much recommended place. I would definitely return there.

Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
Kendwa is the perfect beach holiday.
This is the only area bot effected by tides.
The beach is wonderful and offers great places to eat. Kendwa rocks offers a great BBQ with live entertainment on Saturdays.
We booked the private jacuzzi room which was right outside our room. Very clean, comfy beds. We absolutely loved it, we also had sun beds and it was super relaxing. You can tell the owner takes pride in the hotel, paying attention to detail. The staff are helpful and very kind. The hotel is on the beach, and we could access it from our pool. There was an iron in the room too. The breakfast was also nice. We paid extra for lunch and dinner and it was the best food I’ve had in Zanzibar!
The food was excellent, the service was the same, the beach was gorgeous, the weather was perfect. The resort is located at the tip of Zanzibar on the white sand beaches. There are less people here and the beach huts are spaciously apart - the neighboring resorts are crowded in comparison. The property is beautiful and the entertainment is good fun.
We came here for peace and quiet after a long safari and time in Stonetown and the Zanzibar Gold delivered!
- huge villas with two private pools and a big washroom
overlooking the bay
- 50 acres full of tropical plants with only 15 villas make the place very intimate
- the food is the best probably in the whole Zanzibar..the chef prepares everyday a new menu both for lunch and dinner
- the staff is extremely kind and helpful. You will be assigned a private butler who will fulfill all
your desires
- private beach with huge sunbeds and kayaks to use
This Hotel was good for 3 reasons:
* Mustafa - what an absolutely nice host and excellent manager. He went above and beyond and was available via whatsapp to answer questions about literally everything. Great guy, Thank you, Mustafa.
* Air Conditioning - Zanzibar is hot. HOT! And the much need air conditioning is there for you. It is very powerful and had no outages. What a blessing.
* Security - I felt rather safe inside the building.
Beautiful location right infront of the Beach, the hotel owner Al Pacino is the most sweetest person ever that contributed to my stay. His staff are all so lovely and helpful. I felt like home and extended my stay for another 3 nights. Breakfast views are unbeatable, food is tasty rated 10 stars for this property am definitely coming back. Thank you Al Pacino, All smiling John, Rachel and the hardworking chef who makes very tasty food.
Location right in front of the beach, with a private area where you can be fully relaxing;
Big and clean room, with a lot of privacy and silence;
The Essence restaurant, with tasty food, great variety and good prices (we ate there every meal)
The best buffet breakfast we had in Zanzibar
The staff, so nice. It was my boyfriend's birthday and they even offered us a cake while the restaurant staff was singing the Jambo song
nice place you feel like home, the rooms are clean and big and all basics things you want you have inside , the hotel is second line far from beach like 5 minutes but they offer sunbed and entrance to pool for free , its an excellent stay for zanzibar you dont need more, the staff are so nice specially alpacino is very helpful , the food is soo tasty
The view is to die for. To sit in your balcony and watch the sunset makes the place worth it. It's location is decent a 3min walk to the beach and a minute away from Kendwa rocks. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. The staff member (local) at the restaurant was really nice. The building is new and clean.
the staff are super nice, well trained and friendly and actually seems as if they like working there which is important to me and not my experience at most other hotels I have stayed at in Zanzibar ( I have stayed a lot of different hotels) I would definitely stay there again if I have the budget to do so.
Very nice place. Especially the people are very nice and always friendly and try to help like Laurent who would always assist us.
Beach here in the north is the best on zanzibar.
The location is unbeatable. At the bottom of the steps starts the sand leading to one of the nicest beaches in Zanzibar. It's right next door to restaurants and activities.
