What makes Palmera so special is its inspiring mission. The hotel and restaurant operate as a hospitality school for local young women, and the exceptional service they provide is a direct reflection of their training. From their warm smiles to their impeccable attention to detail, you can feel the genuine pride they take in their work. The hotel's setting is pure paradise. The infinity pool overlooking the turquoise sea is mesmerizing, and the lush, immaculately kept gardens create a perfect oasis for relaxation. It was wonderful to be able to walk barefoot through the fine sand and simply enjoy the tranquility. For anyone, but especially for vegans, the restaurant is a must-visit. The creative and delicious vegan dishes, all beautifully prepared and presented by the talented students, were a true highlight. It's a testament to the high-quality training they are receiving. The breakfast, in particular, was the best I had during my three-week stay in Tanzania, the homemade warm bread and homemade chocolate spread were unforgettable. For lunch and dinner, with main courses priced between $11 and $13, it offers exceptional value. This 15-room hotel is a quiet retreat. I stayed when it was almost empty and had no issues with noise, but even when full, the large garden and pool area should provide plenty of space for guests. The price range for double rooms in the 2025 high season was 70-100 USD. All rooms face the sea, though the view can be a bit limited from some of the downstairs rooms. While the large windows are beautiful, the curtains don’t fully cover them, which could be a privacy concern for some. I prefer a firm mattress, and the bed was perfect for me, but it might be a bit too hard for others. The solar-powered hot water worked flawlessly. The road to the hotel is a little bumpy on the last kilometer, but there are plans to improve it. In the bathrooms, I would have appreciated a bit more space to dry towels, or a drying rack on the terrace.

I stayed two nights in the villa. It's truly beautiful: Big room and bathroom, nice gardens and the pool is just perfect for a morning bath. The location is quite close to the beach, the breakfast is abundant and the best part is the attention of the staff which was amazing! If I am back to Kizimkazi, I would definitely stay in Kameleon blue again.

After a week crowded Nungwei beach we have spent there 6 unforgettable days! This was the one of the top hospitality experience ever! The location is quite stunning with direct access to the beach, sleeping in wooden caban with toilets and shower. The bungalows are so unique and cosy, simplicity and elegance are the right words to describe. They offer lunch and dinner in a restaurant with a single menu though that changes everyday, usually rice with fresh fish. All the local staff and the massai working there are very friendly and helpful. If you look for something natural, we would recommend.And no need be scared about the bush babies in the night, they are so sweet ;)

We spend 3 nights at Promised Land Lodge and recommend it 100%. The area was designed and built with so many lovely details that you instantly feel at home there. It reminded me on a place in Greece I used to spent much time of my childhood at, which says a lot. I will definitely come back asap.

Great location with beautiful views in quiet fishing village. Comfortable beds, huge bathroom, very clean. Beautifully maintained garden and villas. We loved the food in the restaurant, all the seafood dishes were super fresh and very tasty. Their curry and pilau were super good too. We didn't try any of meat dishes but being on Zanzibar you can't expect a wide range of them. We liked the breakfast options too. The massage I got there was amazing, I strongly recommend it. We liked the staff as well, very friendly and professional.

Embe Lodge is a hidden gem in Kizimkazi! I had a spacious room with a balcony and beautiful view on the garden. The garden is quite big, very pretty and has a pool. A stunning cliff side and a sand beach are in close walking distance and also the staff was very lovely! I’ll definitely be back when around!!

The owners’ warm welcome and desire to help and make everyone’s stay great are the essence of this family business. The place truly invites you to chill out. Olivia’s art is everywhere and makes all the charm both indoors and outdoors. There are no ACs but the weather was gorgeous and the ceiling fan was more than enough for us. The rooms are small and only two of the six have windows facing the beach but they have everything you need for the night and you are unlikely to spend any time inside during the day anyways. Plenty of board games are available for free (changes from the 8 USD some safari lodges charge for a deck of cards) and you can pick a book from quite a big library if you finish or forgot yours. The four breakfast choices were delectable (crepes, cinnamon toast, avocado toast or eggs any way). If you request it, lunch is a light fare (nibbles plate or yummy wraps) charged symbolically. The also on-demand dinners consisted of a meal prepared for everybody like rice with fish curry. These are no 3-course fancy meals, so don’t expect starters or deserts, but the food is freshly prepared and very tasty. If you need anything specific, don’t hesitate to ask - if they can, they’d be happy to accommodate your request. The massage in the tipi house that lets you feel the marine breeze and hear the waves is the perfect way to unwind completely, so make sure to plan it the day before or ask if someone has requested Carolina’s service already as she isn’t there all time. The rate is 40 USD per hour. Can also book just 45 minutes for 30 USD. There are fishing boats for rent and a diving center on the same beach, so if you want a more active vacation, you have options too.
