Taichung is kinda my hometown, the weather is nicer than Taipei and Kaoxiong. Life expense is a little cheaper than Taipei. It's easy to get to parks, shopping malls, very convenient for travelers to walk around either by buses or on foot.

Taichung has many great cultural places, entertainment and food is top notch as well!
Only down side is the that traveling around taichung is not so public transport friendly as it's so huge!
I did not get to go to quite a few other places with the days i spent there, will head back to continue exploring again!

I teach English to Taiwanese adults and was fortunate to have two of my students (on different days) take me to places they wanted to show me. I think there are many interesting places to visit in Taichung.
Since I was in a car with locals, I can't really say what the public transport is like, but from my view, it seemed like there are buses and metro trains everywhere.

The National Theatre is an amazing building to see, look for the "nose", the "eye" and the "ear", as well as the facial profiles in the butterfly pictures on the walls on 1/F.
Miyahara Ophthalmology clinic is another place to visit in Taichung.

Its a city in transition i want to visit it in 5 years or so again to see where it's at. But probably won't stop here again till then, nothing any other city doesn't offer.
WIth that said..... great place to do a day trip for specific things...
If you have 2 days to spare visit and plan your day so you won't waste time. Restaurants open late, they definitely move at a different speed with many places closed Wed.
If you are vegetarian or vegan great places to eat here. Do Uber eat my Taiwanese friend used it all the time.
Great Museum and right next to the museum don't forget to eat at the restaurant the home of where boba tea was created. If you're into boba its a must-go!

Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei.
Taichung is a less westernized city than Taipei. What I like is the stimulation brought by different cultures, rather than the standard plagiarism and imitation. I don’t think other cities are better than Taichung.
The hotel is modern, clean and spacious, as was the room we stayed in. The staff spoke very good English and were very helpful. The hotel breakfast is pretty good by Taiwanese standards (no full English or fancy lattes and there’s a fair amount of dog food looking stuff mixed amongst the breakfast buffet, but you can still get a decent enough fill for your breakfast i.e cereal, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee etc.). Location of the hotel is spot on, and you can walk to a shopping centre and few other places.
It was a very nice stay. While the beds were very comfy and the authentic breakfast was tasty, especially the attentive, kind and helpful staff has to be highlighted. They gave us valuable information about restaurants and activties in Taichung. In general, the hotel lies in a calm street close by major attractions and is well connected to public transport.
Also a plus: free drinks are provided in the general area which has a hugh sofa to relax a little bit :)
I chose this hotel considering I didn't know hotels in Taichung so better stick with an IHG hotel.
Good air con, universal electric plug in the room. Location was just a short Uber trip to Lalaport and Miyahara ice cream. Taichung park is just accross the hotel. Starbucks is in the little (super little) shopping mall within the same building as the hotel. Staffs spoke decent English. Other than these, I will not consider to come back to this hotel.
Excellent value for money. Got a double room including breakfast for two just over 1600nt. The room was nice and comfy, despite some broken tiles in the bathroom. Breakfast was nice, better than in many other hotels in Taiwan. Liked the location, across the river there are many bars, which was nice as we arrived late and wanted to find a place to chill with couple of drinks.
From the beginning of checking in, the staff was excellent. Ordered a full dinner for the family off the in room dining menu. The food was exceptional. We ordered everything from a club sandwich to beef noodle soup. Compliments to the chief. Beds were comfortable and checking out was painless. I can easily understand why this hotel was rated 5 stars.
The early check-in, room size and location. The concierge staff especially Adam Sun and Karen Lai so patient and helped us to find a fantastic tour of Sun moon Lake. The tour was the highlight of our stay in Taichung. The staff at the breakfast venue were lovely and accommodating. They didn't rush us out like other hotels we stayed in.
Location is super near Taichung second market!
Room was comfy and my family members loved it, super comfortable.
Good breakfast selection (included in the hotel
Price) and toilet was pretty new! TV had YouTube option! There is snacks (tea egg, ice cream, coffee, hot chocolate) available up till 12am. Would stay there again!
The hotel situated in front of the train station, making it very convenient to going places. There are plenty of motorbike rental around the area if you need one to visit Taichung and surrounding area. The hotel itself is basic but sufficient for a short stay. Staffs are polite and very helpful
We had a short one-night stay in this hotel over the weekend to explore some nice restaurants and coffee spots in Taichung. It’s within walking distance of Fengjia night market and conveniently has a parking space in its basement. The room is comfortable enough and quite clean.
Best to stay for a family trip as they did provide free breakfast (little but delicious) for us & parking voucher for our car parking at a nearby hotel. Will stay again for my next trip at Taichung Travel.
Walking distance to/from Fengchia night market. Public bus stop conveniently stops right opposite of the hotel, which has bus coming from Taichung train station and city centre of Taichung
The location is nice.
Nearby to few eatery and night market.
Friendly staff with good service on recommendation and video on how to get to the hotel and watching the TV.
Location near Train station and famous Ice cream shop.
There is a thoughtful mini playground for kids within the hotel, although there is no use for us without kids.
the staff are helpful, the location is just a few steps to Taichung TRA station, healthy breakfast, facilities are neat, and Taroko mall is just beside the hotel.
The hotel is very clean with very nice room The bed is comfortable. It is near the Taichung City train and there are a lot of places to see and eat nearby.
