We have family in Trinidad, and it is home for my husband, we love it. Port-of-Spain allows you to be close to the water and enjoy the breeze. It is also close to entertainment ex: Queens Hall for shows...

The city has a lot of green spaces.
The city has a lot of green spaces. I used to taxi to move around and my driver (Victor) was an efficient and safe driver and pleasant companion. I visited the botanical garden (nice park but nor really a botanical garden) and the zoo (old-fashioned but still a nice outing), both at walking distance from the hotel (The Normandie). I didn't manage to go to the beach as it was raining heavily that day.

The people of Trinidad are very very friendly and helpful.
The people of Trinidad are very very friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable and safe whilst I was out and about doing my tourist thing. There are so many places to eat and everything I ate was good from fancy restaurants to the street food and there was so much to choose from. The perfect foodies paradise.
One of the best places we visited was Maracus Beach - the beach was fantastic and the food was awesome!!

The people are very rude, unfriendly and very, very unhelpful. this country and city is not a tourist destination and should not be advertised as such. Everything is extremely over priced, poor quality, nothing met our expectation especially the extremely poor quality food and drinks, over priced junk!
The notion of an Island paradise is a fiction, unless the local are ripping you off they are just hostile. We also experienced racism from the Hindu Indians, this should be looked into by the Government, racism should not be acceptable anywhere in the world, and especially not in a country of colour!

Not much to like.
Not much to like. We were there in transit to Barbados as a way to have shorter air time for seniors with bad backs. The city is dried up...no money invested to keep any flowers/gardens. Downtown is a series of KFC and DQ and other fast food joints. The park touted its fountain but not working. The statue of a cricket player on Independence Square had an illegible plack, flag poles, no flags. Museum closed for 2 years. It has "Twin Towers" and 2 gold lions outside the Stock Exchange. Mostly new cars about but taxis gouge tourists by charging per person ($50US to go up the hill to the President's House and Art gallery...not.) Get a TTFS sim card to do the same for a few bucks. People sullen and sad, no music anywhere from the country that invented the steel drums. No industriousness...not one construction site anywhere I guess because no money to invest in the city. Land taxes have been a stagnant $10/yr per property since implemented after WWIi....a small newish mall close to the Hyatt, Movietown, had eateries and Frederico's was very good. Saw Avatar so you might guess how exciting the city was. Stay home.

Getting around to Port of Spain was easy.
Getting around to Port of Spain was easy. Taxi was always available within a short wait time, except for the day of the riot/protest on July 4th. We waited for over 3 hours waiting on a maxi.
This was my fifth visit to Trinidad. It is my home away from home.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay here and if /when we visit Trinidad again will look no further than the Gingerbread House. The owners and staff are delightful, so accommodating and helpful. Our accommodation was perfect for us. There is a beautiful peaceful area at the back of the property where you can relax and enjoy, also a dipping pool to cool off in. There is parking at the front of the property and the location of the house is convenient for all your needs.
Breakfast is always an amazing experience at this hotel. You get the general and expected bacon and eggs and it is always cooked to perfection . My high point is the local items they feature daily. So the roast bakes, fried bakes, puffs, baigan choka the amazing pepper sauce. Amazing breakfast with a really nice view. Staff at breakfast are the sweetest humans you can find. Very helpful and they remember you, which is always a nice touch.
Very clean and safe. You can walk at night to the guest house and be safe. Lots of good local restaurants and popular bars. Very good location, quiet and peaceful at night. Hosts very welcoming and accommodating. There are a convenient store walking distance from the property and I had no problem with transportation with TTRideshare (Local Uber). I willl
stay there again should I visit Port of Spain again.
Great location for access to most of the things we wanted to do and see in Trinidad. The property was very clean , had a lovely pool and secure parking . Koral the host was very helpful with everything to do with the apartment and things to do whilst in Trinidad. Especially appreciated the fact that we could stay in the apartment until 4pm as our flight was at 8 pm
Very spacious room, well soundproofed with blackout curtains, very comfortable bed, original bathroom with shower in the middle of the room. Ideally located hotel. Excellent, gargantuan breakfast, with local music and sea view. I regretted not being able to stay more than one night due to lack of availability.
Breakfast was hearty and definitely tasty and wholesome. my only issue was they wasn't any peanut butter at the breakfast station but I am sure i could have requested it, The room was great, especially since we got a view of the pool. The location is perfect since its close to everything in port of Spain.
The apartment was located in a reasonably quiet neighbourhood and not too far from the country's capital. I enjoyed lounging in the pool area. Stacy was a superb host. She answered any queries I had promptly and made me feel very comfortable. I would recommend Stacy's Place to anyone visiting Trinidad.
The hotel and grounds are stately and well maintained. Everything you need is on site there- pool, bars, atm, souvenir shop, security, gym and more. The room is very comfortable and staff are attentive. The bed very comfortable and a balcony to sit out on where I could hear music from the Oval.
Good place to sit outside in the restaurant/ bar by the pool, very friendly and helpful staff especially in the restaurant/ bar.
Central location, good connection to the ferry harbour,, Independent Square.
And: inside the hotel is a shop with beautiful regional products, arts and crafts.
The staff were kind . They helped me find my destinations and were easy to talk too. It's a family business and I love that .with so many hotels being owned by outsiders .it's lovely to support trinis
Booked the hotel due to the pool/rooftop and room size. All very well received and happy with standard. Really friendly staff so would book again if coming back to Trinidad.
Very good hosts and the accommodation met all my expectations without a doubt one day I will return to Trinidad and Tobago I will return to this apartment
