A conveniently located fine modern hotel. Windows are perfectly soundproof to cut off all the street noise, along with blackout curtains to ensure a good sleep. Helpful staff makes sure your stay be comfortable. The area is quite green, with many amenities nearby, very close to the airport, bus & train stations, and max 30 min walk to all the major sights.

Staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Chef Emrah was especially helpful and spoke good English which made everything from ski hire to special requests much smoother. Staff went above and beyond to help, offering rides to/from the hotel to the ski lifts (which is usually just a 2 minute walk), took on suggestions for breakfast/dinner options, and accommodated late checkout. Staying at Balsoy was like staying at a second home, highly recommend.

Superb location out of town with great views of the ski runs & lifts. I imagine in winter season it would be a dream to be that close to the lifts. No hauling heavy and cumbersome ski equipment.

Erzurum is a place for ski-holiday in Palandoken. The hotel is a 10 minute drive from the ski resort, which is perfect. Erzurum is a very traditional city in the far east of Turkey. There are really extremely nice and friendly people there. The atmosphere is very friendly and gentle.

A city with very many friendly and helpful persons whatever you do, and I felt safe all the time. I stayed only overnight twice in a week, but I will always remember how nice it was meeting other people in Erzerum as well as people on buses and trains. Yes, this goes for people in Turkey as well, way over my expectations

There isn't a lot of the old town and castle left, but what...

There isn't a lot of the old town and castle left, but what is there is worth a visit if you are going for the winter sports or for a walk in the mountains. Or even if you are there for work. The local kebabs are excellent and there are plenty of good restaurants in the town. Taxis are plentiful, I didn't see much in terms of public transport.

Interesting town, with major sights all located within short walking distance of each other. A lot of cafés serving tea and snacks, but not many restaurants offering a good selection of dishes and especially difficult to find meat-free dishes. We did have one meal in a fascinating restaurant - Erzurum Evleri - located in a labyrinth of old houses and crammed with all sorts of antiques and paraphernalia associated with life in the old town. A bit like eating in a museum, but the food was good and it was an enjoyable and interesting experience.

A small city on the edge of Armenian highlands.

A small city on the edge of Armenian highlands. Lots of mosques, couple of local history museums. Friendly people, low prices, very shallow snow cover. Got some architecture, cultural, hiking, shopping, gastronomic gems here.

I think this hotel is a good place for anyone to stay. It's situated in quiet area of the city close to the Castle (5 min walk). Ömer, the owner does a very good job in making your stay comfortable. My room was spacious and was facilitated with a fridge, a desk, a modern tv, hair dryer and commodities. For people that use their room for more than just sleeping (like blogging in my case) I can recommend this hotel. I like how the rooms were decorated, it created a peaceful ambiance.

The hotel is located near (walking distance) the main attractions of the city, the hotel staff was very friendly and always ready to help, a place to park the car was found very quickly (Including escorting our car through one-way streets of the city when our navigator failed)
