Actually I meant to rate this hotel but wrote it in the slot for Sugdiyon hotel in Khujand which was definitely mediocre.

Before visiting Asham I thought I had problems with sleeping, but in this place you REALLY have a good rest. Gusar village is 25 min far from Penjikent by car (you can catch the one near the M.Bashoro mosque in Penjikent), the guesthouse is situated in the Asham store building. There is a local market, grocery stores and marshrutka stop near. My dormitory was very big and clean, bed was extra-comfortable, window view was the best ever (mountains). The shower is inside the dormitory, it s very convinient! Hot water 24/7, towels and slippers, kettle and cups are provided. Room was much better than photos on booking, so if you are looking for the comfort and calmness Asham is what you need. But be informed that on Saturdays and Sundays a noisy tajik weddings can be held in the building. Anyway it is a good opportunity to see tajik wedding)) It`s ok if you make photos and dance with guests))
Staff was so kind and hospitable, if you have any problem or question, just ask)

I really had a great time in the Artuch mountain base which exceeded my expectations. I feel like a lot of the comments here didn’t do it justice but as far as mountain refuges above 2200m go this is a luxurious one in my opinion.
- staff was great, Jhenia speaks fluent English and has great recommendations on what trails to take and how to make the most of your time
- I slept in the cottage room which was very nice, there was hot water for shower, and all the needed amenities, I was able to fill water from the stream tap they have available
- The highlight for me is definitely getting to have the beautiful mountains and lake for almost myself, I only regret not staying longer

Interesting historical sites of ancient Panjakent town and nearby excavations of 5000 year old Sarazm settlement. Everything in Panjakent within walking distance but Sarazm is a few miles out of town and a taxi would be needed for a visit there.

I didnt see much of the town in Panjikent but most people use it as a base to start a hiking trip in the Fann mountains or to travel to the seven lakes. Be careful of overpriced tours and taxis. Local transport is always significantly cheaper if you have the time.
