Very friendly receptionist. Fantastic location if you need to get to the airport. Large and clean room and a bathroom. Very good breakfast and excellent coffee, one of the best I had in a long time, strong, strong, strong👏👏👏. Thank you Praia Hotel for these big coffee cups. The hotel also provides a free shuttle🙏🙏🙏

The hotel is very new and clean. The staff is very friendly and Mr. Kenito himself helped us with everything we needed. We felt really comfortable and at home. The rooms are clean, have a nice shower and a minifridge. The hotel is close to the airport and a decent distance from the center, we felt safe to walk to the center at night. It's a lovely place to stay in Sao Tome, definitely recommend!

Geovanni is a very welcoming host that speaks English very well. The rooms are clean and tidy and offer everything you need. The breakfast was a buffet style and was better and with more variety than most European or American 4+ start hotels. Good quality food, good use of local foods, very attentive service. I liked how they used some of the local chocolate syrups and preserves, as well as fruits and coffee. Excellent view of the sea for a bonus! We also had shows every evening, including a local live band and a youth orchestra playing local music. Both were great! The starts of this hotel however were the staff. The front desk was efficient, they were ready for the check in, they had the bill ready for the checkout, and they were always smiling and eager to help. The bartenders and maids were also friendly and proactive, very proactive, same for the towel person at the pool. And Bruna was fantastic! she was all over the place, talking to guests and helping in any way possible from getting taxis to organizing tours, making dinner reservations at local restaurants, etc. In summary, customer service was in line with or better than most 4+ star hotels in Europe or the USA.

The place is perfectly clean. The people in reception were very helpful, although the frequent blackouts in Sao Tomé make their life rather complicated. A place close to the airport. Good breakfast despite of early time of our departure.

Nice location next to the beach walk. Good breakfast. Comfy and spacious room. Nice lobby and great garden with a pool. We received a complimentary late check out to 5 pm and transfer to the airport. Helpful and kind staff.

A wonderful place to explore.

A wonderful place to explore. Very much off the beaten path, where tourism has yet to flourish. This can present some challenges, but it's very much a place to get stuck in and explore at your own pace. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found here and all the challenges (poor roads, language barriers, lack of basic amenities) are worth overcoming to experience the nature at hand. The people are friendly, the island's vibe is laid back and there is something for everyone here. What I will say is that a lot of research and planning is required for a lengthy stay in Sao Tome, it's not a place where you can get by on the fly, you need to be prepared and research everything that you're looking to do.

Sao Tome should be combined with a few days in Principe which we did not do. It is underdeveloped in tourist terms - fine for us though. The main attractions need a certain persistence given the state of the roads. Beware goats, dogs, pigs and motor cycles having a different view of how roads should be used. Mostly beware of children. On two occasions aggressive begging by children was excessive. We like to drive ourselves and hiring a driver would probably have deterred them. TAP is the only flight option from Europe. Our flight out did not have the planned aircraft and the substitute did not have the expected facilities and which required an added fuel stop.

Sao Tome island is incredible, even though the slowness of things here can get annoying. Sometime you can't get service even if you pay extra. Taxis are super expensive, so better rent a car or take a guided tour. Actually I strongly recommend to take a guided tour at least the first day. Most people don't speak English, just Portugese.

Very humid and not really geared up for tourists. Getting taxis unless you speak Portugese is difficult except from a hotel. Mainly cloudy in early March. The museum in the light house is very interesting. Meals out were variable but often with large portions particularly of rice.

Every country has its interesting sights and so has Sao Tomé. It is worth a visit. It is much more African than Cabo Verde. It lacks however the traditional villages like Benin or Togo. I was a bit disappointed by the quality of its beaches and the snorkeling. There is not much of coral, but there are colourful fishes and large quantities. There are great hiking possibilities in dry season in beautiful green plantation or forests. It is a lot safer than many other African destination. There are beautiful birds, but no large animals in the natural parks.

The people are impeccable in their hospitality. From professionals to ordinary citizens who always have a hello to say. They are unique in this respect. We really enjoyed how we were received. Beaches and a unique break.

From the capital (Sao Tome) , you will have a beautiful , yet challenging road ahead (approximately 2,5 hours, heaviest is Porto Alegre, even for a 4x4). But it is a reason to take it. The lodge is on a beautiful and breathtaking cliff. Amazing views. Driving in to the ecolodge area is just amazing. Pineapples all around, not to mention the rest. The cottage was spik and span and comfy. Different viewsites with well built platforms to do that. Beach within walking distance. Lot of different surfaces (rocks, sand, plants etc.)

Really comfortable property. Good value for money. Staff and owner were excellent in helping out. They even organised for a money changer to come so that we didn’t have to arrange in the street, and also proactively offered for us to keep the rooms beyond the usual check out time as they didn’t have anyone else booked in. Also one of the best breakfasts that we had in Sao Tome.
