I absolutely loved my stay at the Holland Lodge. The staff was so kind and accommodating, it felt like a visit with family or friends. Colleagues of mine stayed at a larger chain hotel, and I was so happy that I chose to stay at the Holland Lodge. It felt as though I experienced more of the city and culture with the people here.

Paramaribo needs a lot of renovation and there are some suspicious characters in some places at night, but that being said, it is a fascinating and unique place and worth seeing. The fort, the markets, the riverfront, the great food, the cathedral, the synagogue and the palm garden are all worthwhile.

It was a very interesting place with evidence of its multicultural mix of population. Saw lots of Indian and Chinese owned businesses. Didn't see much businesses from other cultures. Saw many monuments of historical significance. Loved the architecture of the buildings. Very disappointed to see so many Casinos in the City with such a small population.

Paramaribo is a safe place, however, when we arrived we were highly prevented about thieves on the street, gangsters etc... people are friendly and attentive, always helpful and ready to provide useful information. tourism is not well developed, however, there are some tourist agencies which organise some tours to jungles and to the closest neighbourhoods... call to Orange, Zuz&zo ... they speak good English. we were in June there so the season of heavy reines started and you should be aware that half of the day you are wet. the rein is warm so you can easily forget a raincoat, but don't forget dry clothes) we didn't have many chances to see animals, however, our guides did their best to find them. so, turtles ponding eggs, dolphins in the river and monkeys in the trees you will see for sure) kitchen - I a consequence of multicultural crossroads - so you eat well, even veggie meals are not a pb to find. the country still is suffering from a low economic level, people are poor, streets, river banks, market places are dirty... but they do a lot of affords to show their best

Paramaribo was nice.
Paramaribo was nice. Not very easy to get around when trying to go shopping and didn't feel like it catered to tourists and very expensive for shopping. They did not take any international credit cards nor did the bank or cambios accept any Guyanese currency for exchange so our spending became limited with the limited USD cash we had.

Very safe for I did not feel threatened, however do not like seeing people asking for money though they do not pester you.
People are friendly and helpful when giving directions, and many know English if you cannot speak Dutch.
But it is important to acquire a street map to find your own way around and get used to the names of streets when locals give directions to find places.
The staff are really friendly and helpful. The place is clean and the rooms are comfortable (if unfortunately quite hot during the day if you’re in one with no AC). It’s very centrally located for sights and amenities in the city and you can book all your tours with them too (HIGHLY recommend the tour to Jaw Jaw). Also as it’s the only real hostel in Suriname (and the guianas) it’s a good place to meet other travellers.
I loved the plantation-style design and the small, intimate scale of the property. There was everything you'd need in the room, even snacks and pastries and juices that all came included in the room. Gordon who runs the place was very communicative and helpful. I also loved being able to look out of my room and see verdant greenery. The location was relatively good, as we could walk everywhere in Paramaribo from there.
Stylish apartment, attention for every detail: mousquitto screens, koffiemachine, thee, coffee, creamer, sugar all available. Two bottles of water and water dispenser. Balcony living in trees with the birds. Excellent breakfast with variation every day. Fresh fruits and juice, delicious pancakes, and so much more. Best breakfast in Suriname! Helpful hosts carrying heavy luggage upstairs. NOTHING but excellent!
The hotel is located a short 10-15min walk from the center, and is inbetween the center and the centeral market. The rooms are very spacious and super super clean. Beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is so good every morning, especially the surinamese egg. What is most outstanding is the amazing staff, they are all so kind and helpful, and make you feel at home from the first moment.
Airport pick up service was $30USD; the airport is FAR from the city, so arranging it in advance is mandatory and recommended; I was so happy to see the Apartment Sign in the arrivals area when I got there at 2 am. Ride was with the owner's son -- he shared great local information on the hourlong drive, so even though it was LATE at night, the ride was quite pleasant!
Located at the beautifull heart of Paramaribo city.
Near a few ''must see'' spots. (Palmentuin, Waterkant, Fort Zeelandia museum)
Room was clean, comfortable bed & pillows, clean towels available every day.
Very friendly staff members at check-in and check-out.
If the weather allows; have some food at the Rooftop, outside.
Very nice views from there.
The perfect place to start discovering Suriname. The place is comfortable, super clean, breakfast is nice. The best thing about it are the hosts of guesthouse amice who are welcoming, friendly and immensely helpful. We enjoyed our stay a lot and will surely come again when visiting Paramaribo.
Alberga is simple, clean enough and very relaxed. Staff is trustable and helpful, you can store luggage if you are away for a few days. Touw te allowed to put stuff in the fridge, work on the terrace (I am botanist and bring lots of stuff?). Best value for this price in Paramaribo
The best in this hotel is, that it is new. The rooms are completely new and also clean. However, the Hotel is still under construction. The Rooftop Bar is wonderful + the food nice. The hotel staff is friendly.
The Central Market nearby is worth visiting.
This is the only hostel in any of the Guyanas. The reception (and the owner) are full of useful information, and can also help book transportation and excursions. It's cheap, and extremely clean. It's well-located in the town.
Clean. Small but comfortable rooms. Nice location within walking distance to the center of Paramaribo. Knowledgeable, efficient, and very personable staff. Would stay here again and recommend it to others.
it is a Cozy small sort of a Boutique Hotel where the staff ( specially a a staff member called Rinesh) but all members in general are very kind, and willing to assist you and help you.
The hotel was centrally located. Very close to all amemities you could need. Staff was friendly.
Pool was open for use. And food was prepared on site and was very good.
