The hotel has an awesome location, it is just a few minutes drive from the main highway. This makes it less noisy and a bit cheaper than other options in the region. The hotel is really new and everything shines. Jacuzzi and bathroom are a pleasure to use new and clean. There is a good bar downstairs where you can have a drink and relax after a long journey.

The apartment is very new and has been lovingly created with great attention to detail; from traditional window frames which form part of the banisters, to the beautiful wooden floors and the wood-burning oven. The apartment is well-equipped, towels and bedding are provided and if we needed anything else then we only had to ask and our host provided it immediately. We were given fresh milk, apples, coffee and sweets upon arrival which we much appreciated! The apartment is located above the pizzeria and if you order the delicious pizzas everything is brought up to your terrace (including cutlery, plates and sauces) and you can eat in your own little space whilst listening to the owls call. We ate all our meals on the terrace with beautiful views over the rolling countryside, the lake beyond the trees and the mountains in the distance. Markovci is a sweet little town, with two shops, a pharmacy and an amazing ice cream shop! The village is just a few minutes walk from the lake and a stunning nature reserve. The gorgeous town of Ptuj is just a short drive away and well worth a visit (or two). It is true that the walls are a little thin and you can hear the apartment next door. But this wasn’t a problem as they got up and went to bed about the same time as we did. The apartment had air conditioning which was excellent during the summer heat. All in all we loved our stay, we felt very welcome and were impressed by our host, the apartment, the village and indeed Slovenia as a whole. We would love to come again, thank you for a lovely stay!

Sobe Prostija is right in the centre of Ptuj next to the tower. Until 2016 a monastery, it was converted in recent years into guest rooms. The protected building from 1510 was lovingly restored, and all rooms are completely modernised. Located between the castle and the main square, it is ideally located to explore the town. Due to the new windows and the thick walls, it is one of the quietest hotels I have ever been. Our host gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel like friends and not mere guests.
