Skellefteå is a town with an intriguing history.

Skellefteå is a town with an intriguing history. A pretty town on the banks of a large river. The view across the river of the beautiful main church has been obscured by an ugly multi-story parking garage. Who thought up that damaging action? The town is currently in the grips of street optimization. The narrowing of the main East-West street, is questionable and will soon cause traffic congestion. The station is still in place, but no rail traffic goes there apart from goods !! The infrastructure around the railway and station needs to be optimized and take advantage of the existence of a rail link to the rest of Sweden and the outside World.

I stayed 5 days, mid September, for a conference and had...

I stayed 5 days, mid September, for a conference and had some free time. When it wasn't raining, I enjoyed beautiful walks along the river (4 hour circuit), and I ran to the coast (12 km away), and through forestry roads. Easy returns by public transport as the busses are frequent and accept credit card. I did not need Swedish money at all during my stay. The town museum is a must see, even if small, and you should visit the historical part of town, which is nearby. I confess to only having eaten asian food while in town. I did not identify a restaurant with Swedish food, which I would have liked to try.

The wood hotel is perfectly located in the centre. The subtle smell of wood throughout the hotel is nice , the staff are extremely polite , friendly and very professional, the room was very clean with a very comfortable bed and an awesome view of the city. On the 20th floor you'll find the spa with an outside heated pool , a steam room , a sauna and a hammas.

Location of the hotel is very good! Area is so quiet and is so close to the city center. The room was clean and big, bed was comfortable and the staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast.

The reception area and lounge is nice and inviting. Good area available to sit and work. Location in central Skellefteå is good, close to parking, restaurants and excercise possibilities (gym and tracks for walking/running).
