Great architecture and views.
Take the commuter ferry 285 (kr120 for 24 hours in zone 1) for a trip up and down the main riverfront in town.
Beer prices can really vary (£6.50 - £12), so search around. The John Scott pubs are kind of Wetherspoons so much more affordable.
Great food everywhere we ate.
Loved the Padel Courts / Micro Brewery (Two Fat Pigs) in Ringon
All people could not have been more helpful. Talk to the locals.
All walkable or buses and trams can get you everywhere and very regular.

Very close to the hotel was a Coop, and this store had an AMAZING salad selection. Truly amazing! I have never seen anything like that in a regular store.
I walked whenever I had to go somewhere, but there are plenty of buses and trams, so I imagine that getting around is fairly easy.

Gothenburg is an incredibly walk-able city.
Gothenburg is an incredibly walk-able city. Sidewalks, pathways, and crossings are numerous and safe. Just note that there are lots of cobblestones, so were comfy shoes. There is an incredible amount of things to see and do, all within walking distance. The public transportation is outstanding and you will not need a rental car if you plan on staying within the city. The shopkeepers and business staff all know English and are very friendly and helpful. The general public is standoffish and dislikes interacting with tourists so don't expect to have conversations or even make eye contact with local citizens. Expect to pay by credit (mostly cashless) and know the exchange rate before you make purchases. There are a dizzying number of restaurants and shops of all kinds. In one week I went to six museums, a movie (in English), the symphony, countless shops, and the large park with animals, went on two different boat tours and a bus tour, and took hundreds of pictures while walking and sightseeing. All this while literally only staying within a tiny part of the city. I would like to go back to see the archipelago, the opera, a sporting event, and more museums.

It is easy to get around in Gothenburg: trams, buses, and on foot. There are many parks, restaurants, shops, and cultural places. Did not have a problem with the language, but did need to use a translation app every now and then.

Great boat trip through the canals with a very knowledgeable tour guide.
Island hopping via the tram and ferry to the Archipelago as suggested by the lovely lady in the tourist information.
Delicious coffee in Expresso House
Amazing views from the 33rd (bathroom) and 34th (roof top bar) floors of The Clarion Hotel.
Fish market and covered market well worth a visit.

Picturesque town on the water.
Picturesque town on the water. We were only there a few days. We liked the art museum. We took the ferry to Donso so I could go kayaking. Good meal at Wagner's and I had a great shrimp sandwich at the food hall. Lots of Swedish cider and beer.

Always my choice for the best experience while still staying on the budget! The location of the hotel in Göteborg could not be better at the central square, and the option to store the luggage even after the checkout is so convenient. Indoor atrium is so beautiful and better than many of the bars downtown!

Warm welcome, lovely staff who gave excellent service. Fin de siècle décor welcome change from minimalist scandi. Breakfast first class with excellent choice and hot options pleasantly fresh. Best coffee. Loved the roof terrace. Will be our hotel of choice in Göteborg in future.

The best hotel we have stayed at in Sweden! Friendly staff, amazing interior, family friendly rooms, a slope down to the reception and a superb breakfast. Next door to the parking garage and Liseberg. Could not be better!
