Szendrő is a beautiful town on the Danube. Famous for its vineyards and good wines. There are good restaurants on the beach and in parks near the beach. The castle itself is spectacular, but it is not in as good condition as the other renovated Danube castles (Ram fortress, Galamboc fortress, Fetislam fortress) whose renovation was helped by the EU and Turkey. The city is a good starting point for exploring Belgrade, the silver lake and the RAM fortress.

When visiting Smederevo, we saw the walls, the confluence of the rivers, the city center. I can recommend the Inkognito restaurant. You can pay by card there and all the dishes were excellent. The bakery on the square did not accept card payments.

Smederevo is a beautiful old town... a beautiful center and a wonderful quay next to the Danube. A walk by the river was refreshing on a hot evening. The center was full of people, young people and children. Everything was full of laughter, music and positivity, the food after the walk was pleasant and the accommodation was in a quiet area, so the overall experience was great

The fortress is a 15th-century historical site.

The fortress is a 15th-century historical site. The "minimal presentation" may disappoint some. Tickets cost less than 5 euros to visit the towers, which offer a beautiful view of the Danube (access is not easy). The site's grounds have been transformed into a pleasant public park.

Good vibe in the city.

Good vibe in the city. The cafes are great, the coffee is really good. The barbecue in the Wagon is extra. Nice setaliste, there are a lot of people, children, pets. A visit to the fortress is unavoidable. We come to Smederevo every time we have free time.

The castle doesn't offer a panoramic view, and there are only merchant ships, not tourist boats, on the Danube, so the scenery shown in promotional photos is not visible. The green spaces inside are nice, but there's almost nothing to see inside the castle itself. The city is peaceful, but be careful when parking. Because I wasn't familiar with the area, I parked in a paid parking area, unaware of the fee or how to pay. When I returned, I spent ages looking for my car, wasting time, and finally found it with a parking ticket. I asked a passerby who told me I could pay at a currency exchange, but when I went there, a woman there told me I couldn't. When I asked where I could pay, she shrugged and shook her head. Later, I met a Chinese person who introduced me to a local who helped me go to the currency exchange and pay; it was a man who handled it. The woman just didn't speak much English and, to avoid trouble, told me I couldn't pay. There's only one public toilet in Republic Square, and it smells bad even up close, but it still costs money. In short, one visit to this city is enough.

Very clean place which is obviously established with lots of love! Extremly friendly host, comfortable beds, serenity, delicious homemade breakfast, aromatic coffee... When we also add Milos' Serbian rakia, we felt as if we were visitng a relative! Just a short distance from Belgrade, we found ourselves in this cosy oasis. We would be more than delighted to visit again and we strongly recommend everyone headed to the Serbian capital to take a detour to Smederevo! Thank you a lot for the wonderful weekend!
